I had exactly the same issue when refitting one of my front hubs. It turned out to be a badly made hub that was rubbing on the inside of the brake disc housing. So new hub was required (company I bought it from took it back and swapped it) and it only left a slight scoring on the disc housing -...

Just closing this on off - I ended up giving in on this one (Disco beat me!) and took it to a local garage as I discovered the engine mounts needed doing as well and the guy did both things in a couple of hours which was well worth the money in my view - mot on Friday so my deadline was looming...

Cheers! New bolts (fpr), Irwin extractor, freeze spray (SF’s recommendation), o-rings (oil cooler) and gasket (inlet manifold) on order so job for next weekend!! Thanks for all the suggestions

Thanks, will read through that - I think removing the inlet manifold may be the way forward, especially as my oil cooler seals appear to have decided to start leaking coolant so that needs to come off too - might just be worth taking them both off and getting the most space possible in there

Thanks for the link, will have a read through - bought a set of extraction sockets from Amazon, hopefully there will be enough room to get a 3/8 socket on to those bolts - it’s chuffing tight around the pressure reg!

So I tried to follow UP’s guide on replacing the fuel pressure regulator this morning to fix the “common” leak but the top bolts are in danger of rounding and I can’t break them free. I don’t want to keep going with socket or ratchet spanner in case I do round them off I’ve seen another post on...

Just when I thought I’d cracked it.... clearly I celebrated too soon After replacing my abs modulator and sorting the amigos as I noticed another small oil leak from the engine yesterday and the bottom of the auto gearbox housing is covered in nice black oily goo. The leak seems to be coming...

Just a final, closing post as the abs issues are finally fixed SF was correct (as usual!) and it was the connection inside the modulator for the RLOV - modulator changed and all good and working fine now

Well it’s all fixed now - new modulator and switch and no more amigos or internal circuit shorts. Thanks @sierrafery for all the help and pointers - mot here we come!:)

I’ve managed to narrow down my abs issues to the modulator and have got hold of a decent s/h complete abs unit from a 2003 D2 - I want to try to just swap the valve module to start with as the faulty connection is with one of the outlet valves before changing the whole pump and bleeding brakes...

sorry, it was in response to your message saying you'd advise further "post Christmas when sober" - pretty sure I have run all the checks I can aside from swapping pins as I'm not confident enough with electrics to do that and I cant find anyone with a hawkeye and cant afford to buy one right...

@sierrafery - did you have any clever thoughts from the nanocom data? (and hopefully you had a good Christmas and NY) MOT is due soon so need to get it in to a garage if not as I've run out of ideas now!

Probably something I should have noticed before but the model number on the abs modulator is different to the main body. Assume that someone had put a 2004 valve set onto the main pump??

@sierrafery I've recorded some data from SLABs to Nanocom. Attached files are; stationary with ignition at stage 2 and while moving. Moving data isnt huge as there was a comms error (or something!) that stopped it recording. But I can see that the RL shows higher than the other outlet vales...
