    Fuel tank sender resistance

Fixed it today. Potentiometer in tank sender dislocated, probably by ham-fisted previous owner. Resistance values: Full: 0 ohms, empty: 120 ohms.

    Hippo FWD?

Now we are getting somewhere: Automotive Solutions - Automotive Lubrication - Dow Corning The three grades are 3-9160 | 3-9161 | 3-9162 The products are not available in Scandinavia. I have sent a request to the company about product details and availability. I have compared my vcu with a...

    Fuel tank sender resistance

My fuel gauge does not work. The needle stays below zero even when the tank is full. What are the resistance values (full/empty) for the tank sender?

No fuel gauge, no light in clock and odometer

Both LCD displays are indeed background illuminated by bulbs. And incidentally both of mine were broken. Problem solved.

    Hippo FWD?

Is the VCU fluid the same stuff that is used in radiator fan viscous couplings?

No fuel gauge, no light in clock and odometer

Thanks Optimus, I was not aware that the LCDs are not self illuminated. I guess the clock has a bulb also? The RAVE does not show it but maybe I find it when I get it apart :confused2: One day when it gets warmer I'll have a look at it. Right now it's approaching 20 deg below zero...:

No fuel gauge, no light in clock and odometer

The displays show figures but there is no background illumination. And all fuses including #16 look okay. I can't find information about bulb replacement for the displays anywhere.

No fuel gauge, no light in clock and odometer

The needle in my fuel gauge stays below the red empty mark despite tank filled to the brim. And both LCD dislays (clock and odo/tripmeter) are not illuminated even when I put the ligths on. It has been like that since I bought the car so I do not known when the faults occured.I believe these...

    driving with rear prop removed

A piece of flat iron with a 1/2" square hole in it (or a socket welded to it) inserted into the UJ yoke and fitted to a torque wrench is an easily made tool to do the testing. I've got two VCUs that both need 120 Nm of torque to make them slip, a mate just had to apply 200 Nm to shift his.

    Tailgate regulator wire broken

The tailgate window will not go down. I think the regulator wire is broken. How do I take out the regulator unit when the glass is stuck in the top position?

    VCU official torque figure?

The only way to find the correct figure will probably be to buy a new unit and measure it then. A long shot maybe, but I wonder if anybody has done that and can share the information.

    VCU official torque figure?

Thank your for the links. I became no wiser though. I have carried out all the tests described but I still do not know at what torque the VCU is supposed to move when it is up to official specs. So far all I know is that my coupling has not completely seized but I do not feel like putting it...

    VCU official torque figure?

Hi, I am new to this forum. I live in Norway where winter has now arrived and 4wd is needed. I currently drive without the propshafts and vcu because I think the coupling is about to seize. What is the correct torque it should take to turn the viscous coupling? Mine moves when i apply 120 Nm...
