I run a V8 and I've had excellent support on here, also in engine-specific cases. I think you're right though - there were probably more diesels made than petrols, and certainly more of them running today.

Maybe. Although I seriously doubt that a P38, fresh out of the factory with nothing at all wrong with it (except all those faults that were engineered in by the goblins), could be left for 6 weeks without draining its battery. Seems to be true for a lot of other cars as well.
