    Won’t start!

The spark is really inconsistent. Its almost as if the spark is only good enough right at the end of the engine cranking over - just as i stop turning the key. And no ballast that i can see.

    Won’t start!

Parts were bought from my local motor factors. Probably cheaper end of the scale. I should mention however it had been running fine on those parts for a couple weeks before failing to start. Thanks for you replies chaps.

    Won’t start!

Hi, 2.25 petrol series 3 1980 So after diagnosing a weak spark I managed to get the car going by giving a direct feed to the coil from the battery. Still no ideas what is causing the weak spark. However, took the old girl out for a spin and 100m from home she died and now can’t get her...

    Which Electronic ignition?

I'm by no means an expert, but as I understand it an electronic ignition will to some degree produce a better more consistent spark with less maintenance issues. However when they go wrong there is little you can do to repair/change whereas with tradition points you can adjust and/or swap out...

    Which Electronic ignition?

Hi everyone, I posted the other day about my ignition problems and that I was thinking about moving to an electronic ignition. I can see there are numerous options, ranging from cheap britpart to expensive lumenition magic. I'm tempted by the middle of the road (at least expense wise)...

    Series 3 clutch/gearbox issue

Hi, I’ve recently acquired a series 3 2.25 petrol. 1980. (My first Land Rover I’ve owned). Clutch started slipping almost immediately so thought I’d change it. Drained the gearbox oil to find a dozen pieces of metal. Probably will need a gearbox rebuild? However it did seem to change gear...

    My new Series III

Hi all, I've just become the lucky owner of a 1980 Series III running project. She's a dream - except the clutch has gone. It slips when warm so my first job is to get a replacement in. It'll be my first time working on a land rover but not my first experience of DIY mechanics. A google search...
