Just ordered new p gasket .... £1.69 !....last of the big spenders .....see how it goes after fitting that . Got next week off work so no major rush if that doesn't solve the problem . Done this job before took about 2 hours ( with tea breaks ) .

P gasket.... Might be my problem ....had a bit of a leak from that area a few months back ...dismantled engine and resealed with gasket sealant ( blue ) however I think that May of not worked after just having a quick look . Will have another go at that before looking at head gasket .

Only thing I need to buy is a torque wrench . New water pump 6 months ago . P gasket (?) Thermostate changed 6 months ago ( going to change again just to make sure before I start as there only a couple of squid ) Thanks for the tip about gasket , and where to look ( VERY USEFUL TIP)

Gentlemen& ladies, Having a few problems with my T reg disco 1 300 tdi. After doing a little research on the "tinternet" I think I may need to change my cylinder head gasket. As this is my only car I need to get it right first time . I have a good array of tools and I am not afraid of getting...

Spot on people , gave battery quick charge ......jobs a good one .

Front prop held on with 8 bolts . Once off prop splits in two ( with a tugg or two ) put new gaiter on ( quite simple ) replace prop shaft . Don't forget to mark it at each end so you refit it in exactly the same way .

Also if you change a clutch ALWAYS give it a new clutch folk whilest your in there even if it looks ok .

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago ...... It turned out to be the clutch folk had split ....new one off fleabay £14.99 + a nightmare fitting it ( garage were off to charge £600)

Going to drop gear box AGAIN this afternoon to check allinement , ( after a 10 hour shift at work ) then fingers crossed it will " pop " in .......god I hope it does.....

Thanks again , another quickie , if everything is level and square should it slide in quite easy or do you need to give it some ? I've got it as far as all the bolt holes are level and bell housing square ( this has taken about 5 hours of huffing and puffing ) therefore don't want to take it...

Hi peeps , just changed my clutch fork ( which means splitting bell housing ) however they won't go back together . I've pulled, pushed , shook , kicked,wiggled, hit , sworn and sworn some more . After 3 hours given up ! Any help what I have done/doing wrong would be a massive help . Any tips...
