Wanting to buy the right Landy

Speaking from experience of owning 2 Series Landys, I agree 100% get a petrol over a diesel, unless it’s a tdi conversion. 6k should get you a pretty decent series I’d think, although a 2a will go for more than a 3. I’d be expecting a galvy chassis at that money, and a good solid bulkhead...

    RR Classic LSE Diagnostic Kit?

Rovergauge software is solely for the Lucas 14cux fuel injection ECU, it will not communicate with anything else whatsoever, and the only fault codes it will clear are fuel injection related ones, a worthy bit of kit to have, but not for the needs you describe I’m afraid. When I was trying to...

    Aluminium Corrosion Treatment

This was mine after the first time I jet washed the underside after getting in in January 2009, and then again nearly nine years later when I finally got round to patching it a month ago.... Oh how I wish I had treated the underside rather than just talking about it, its a 52 plate btw.

    Clutch bleed

I found my Td5 clutch a right pain to get bled properly, but a bit of perseverance and it came up in the end.

Scrubbing brush and kitchen surface cleaner, flash or the like brought my defender door cards up like new.

    LR S2A Steering relay oil

I thought they did come filled as new? If I was filling one out before fitting it, I would probably try putting it in a vise and very carefully slackening all 4 top bolts to see if I could get a gap to pour oil in rather than the rigmarole of filling through the bolt hole.

    LR S2A Steering relay oil

My steering relay was really stiff, to the point that the landy hardly self centred coming out of corners, I did mine over the course of days/weeks with dozens of shots from a 1ml syringe that came with my cats metacam, even with such a small dose, you would only get a few shots in before it...

Have a laugh at my expense

If I park my defender nose uphill in heavy rain, I get a fair pour in at the top of the drivers door on my first left hand corner, have done for years! :D

    TD5 Overheating

It does sound like it's air locked if all the bottom hoses are cold. Have you followed the bleeding procedure with the bleed screw and the heaters at hot etc? There was a guy local to me a few years ago had a pig of a time getting rid of an airlock in his Td5, I can't remember the exact...

    OS Maps on iPhone

You could use VR free or another app to edit your route using free maps then import back to OS I'd imagine. I can't remember if VR lets you split a route to edit it, being on a computer generally gives a lot more functionality for stuff like that.

    OS Maps on iPhone

Just having a wee look at the OS app just now and the map tiles download easily, but route plotting is clunky in comparison to VR, and there doesn't appear to be the ability to save individual POI's or waypoints, I have no idea yet what it's like for track recording.

    OS Maps on iPhone

One of my favourite pages, you should check out the 25" to the mile overlay from the late 1800's to see some fascinating detail of the history of your area!

    OS Maps on iPhone

No my subscription is to the OS, mainly used for Route planning on a laptop, but subsequently found could use on the OS app. I paid one off fees to VR for chunks of 1:50k, I think about 8 quid each for Scotland West and Scotland NW and I paid a tenner for a load of credits (1000 maybe) to use...

    OS Maps on iPhone

Sorry, I don't think I was very clear, the OS maps I have on ViewRanger were downloaded from VR, not from the OS app, I don't think it's possible to get the downloaded maps from OS app onto VR. I have literally just realised that it is possible to download maps on the OS app now. There used...

    OS Maps on iPhone

My apologies, I have just had a play and I can now download maps, I have subscribed for a while now, and you used to only be able to view online or download the areas of paper maps you had bought.... Should have engaged brain before depressing mouth, or whatever that old saying is!! :D

    OS Maps on iPhone

The OS £20 a year subscription is only for online viewing, you do no to get to download to your device, so no 3G means no maps when you are out in the wilds, with ViewRanger, as others have said, you have your maps available on your device at all times. I too had to abandon memory map after...

    Nanocom or similar

Did you get sorted, I have an original nanocom I bought for that very purpose for my 110. I visit my dad in Bearsden 3 or 4 evenings a week, would be no problem to bring it along.
