Sounds the same as mine - I don't fancy that particular task but I suppose it would be nice to know there wasn't anything lurking unseen. I just finished my rear step which looked awful on first glance and now looks like new and is very solid. Shouldn't pick the easy jobs first!

That is very interesting to see what you've done. I'm having the same issue with the arch trims. I was planning on replacing but the issue seems to be getting them off as they are stuck fast. I've got some bumper paint which give the perfect finish but I realise after one attempt that you can't...

That's looking very good underneath. What was the process in terms of tools used and products etc. In preparation I have acquired a few things such as a needle scaling gun to add to my angle grinder with various brushes, the Bilt Hamber rusts treatments. Planning to go through it section by...

I think the previous owner cared about this Discovery. Engine bay very tidy indeed.

Yes it's a relief - the rest of the car is so good it would have been a shame. Plan is to now go through the chassis and make sure it is all as well protected as possible.

Yes I did and they are very solid. Only surface rust, no holes.

What is the process for removing the fuel tank? Imagine that is a fairly lengthy task but maybe worth it if something nasty lurking behind there!

Have just had this up on the ramp at the specialist workshop and it appears ok -ish. The rust that is apparent is surface and wood metal underneath. The worst area is the rear section but the rest from the rear wheels forwards is only very light. The air bag that doesn't drop appears new so not...

I will check them out. If the rust seems more extensive than I can cope with then probably a good option but do they go to the trouble of removing all surface rust with abrasives or are they just steam and pressure cleaning?

They are only a mile from me so I will hopefully have a look when they do the airbags. How do you get the EKA code?

I will be certain to check that area - be good to know it's all under control.

Thanks again for the information. I'm replacing both suspension airbags next week as one dropped momentarily over the week end so they are probably due for it as you say, they are service items. Hopefully that will be it and all other components of that system are good. The rust I'm very keen to...

That's great information thank you and I will get some Hydrate 50 in the first instance. Can you get to all the bits that need brushing back before treatment? It will be up on a ramp next week and I will know at that point what needs doing. Aside from that I noticed that the underside of the...

Thanks for your comment and I hope you are right that the absence of MOT issues means that things are under control. There is a general rusty appearance underneath and there is no wayoxl so that may be a good sign - or not! Anyway my intention is to go through it and hopefully the underneath...

I think this time I will let the garage do it but would like to have a go at some point. Hopefully it won't be too long in hours!

Should I do both rather than the one that seems to be faulty?
