Have a look in your handbook, My Td5 handbook says to INCREASE pressure when towing, without looking for my book, 28 front, 40 rear is what I tow my Elddis van at. Please consult your book as tyre pressure is critical when towing. Phil* :cool:

:eek: As an old truck driver and NOT a mechanic, black smoke can be overfueling, so as it smokes on start up, what about injectors not closing off fully, and dribbling fuel into cylinder. On start up, black smoke. Perhaps someone will give you a definative answer. Phil* :confused:

My Td5 has a similar type of "fault" when I turn the key, hold it in the start position I can count to two then it starts. It does this every time, hot or cold. Is it faulty or is this "normal".

Thanks chaps, Yes it settles when you lock and leave it. Tested it this morning, and measured how much it lifts on restarting, about 1 inch. So by the replies,, all is well. Thanks again. Phil* :)

This will be an easy question for someone out there to answer, hopefully. When I first start the engine on my Td5 in a morning, the rear end lifts by about 1 inch to 2 inches. I realise that the air suspension is doing what it is supposed to do, but should it sit down by that much overnight...

Mine is on around 31mpg driven sensibly. 2002 Td5 manual.

Mines a 2002 Td5 manual driven quite gently, EGR removed, K&N air filter and ECU tweaked, 31 to the gallon.............

Charles Y I think this is the reason that many Disco owners are having chips/remaps done, not to gain at higher revs, but just to get extra power to get off the mark. My disco took 10 minutes, a following wind and a downward slope to get to 50mph. Much better with the remap.......

Give Gary a bell at Td5 alive, have a word with the Organ Grinder so to speak, he will be able to reassure you one way or another........

Is the JE Engineering a chip or a remap, in my opinion go with a Remap rather than the add on chip........ just my opinion.

Td5 Alive! Diesel Remap Chip Tuning - Performance Diesel Tuning for most modern Cars and Vans. This guy did my Disco last week by remaping the ECU and removing the EGR valve. My Motor has been transformed. Give the guy a bell, he will sort you out. :D

I had my mate who is a MOT Tester contact the Ministry about this. It is ok to run without the cat, it can quite legally be removed BUT the reply went on to say, It MAY effect the emmisions part of the MOT, if so a failure will result. But I do not know any which have failed due to this.
