Oil leak from timing belt side of engine

My 1.8 had 2 oil leaks when I bought it, first was from a rusting oil filter  and the other from the front crankshaft oil seal. To check where its coming from give the engine a proper clean then run it to find out where its leaking.

    Pirelli Scorpions, your experiences?

I had them all round on the TD4 but after 3 years use they started to perish quite badly, cannot complain about the grip though :)

What "every day carry" tools/spares for 1998 petrol Freelander1

I never bothered carrying extra tools, all I need is breakdown recovery - just in case but my old 1.8 kept on going - totally trust it now although I do keep it well maintained to minimise the risk:)

Clanky bangy leaky blinky freelander 1.8 petrol

Sometimes the water pump will leak when the cooling system is hot and under pressure with the engine running but will stop leaking when you turn off the engine again but as said above, the first checks are coolant tank and cap, all hoses and joints, inlet manifold gasket and thermostat o ring seals

    Major oil leak

Only way to check for sure is to remove the engine undertray, de-grease the engine then run it so you can see where the leak is coming from. When I first got my 1.8 it had 2 quite bad oil leaks, first was from the oil filter that had started to rust and split  and the second, from the...

    engine flooding k series

Have you checked the air filter and air intake system to make sure its not blocked? Also when checking the coolant temp sensor - remember one is for the gauge (blue plug iirc) and the other is for the ECU. Check the idle air valve to see that it is open when the engine is cold to allow more air...

    Newbie hello with project XEDI

Once you get the tracking sorted and new tyres on - hopefully with the same make as the ones you are keeping and the new tyres on the back, chances are this will work wonders for your steering.
