Just be careful with ages my series 3 is a 1982 but has pre 1980 axles. Meant I ordered all the wrong bearings and seals, pre 1980 bearings are different sizes to each other after 1980 they are the same. They obviously still had a lot in stock!

Did your wiringloom come labelled with what connects to where? I have to put a new one in mine think it will be an auto sparks one and wondered if they came labelled?

Looks like it's being sold by Craddocks, they should know better! That would bump up the value of any series Landy driving around with a decent bulkhead!!!

Thanks for all your help i have emailed Mps Trading to see if they will do a swap for the earlier kit. Would i be right to imagine this would be fairly common finding earlier axles on a series 3 from the early 1980's or is it more likely that this was swapped by a PO?

found one of the old bearings its a timken as well and its marked 29111 i think for some reason i have an earlier axle fitted to my s3

i have the bearing in front of me it is marked LM603011 778 08. inner diameter of 46mm and a outer diameter of 76mm. as i mentioned before they are both the same size, cant get hold of the mechanic to see what he did with the old ones.

i bought a set of Timken bearings from Mps Trading on eBay (part numberRTC3537G) the mechanic that is rebuilding my rear axle said that these are the wrong bearings and that they need to be 2 different sizes however the guy i bought them from says they are correct, is that the right part number...

I looked at them but couldn't find any for the front panel

my front panel has a bit of corrosion damage to the sides were it fits to the wings, I can see lots of repair panels for door frames bulkheads etc but non for the front panel, are there any companies that make them? It's a 82 S3

Perhaps try a new speedo cable? I am no expert but it's a fairly inexpensive part so could be worth a try.

because i am a tight git and i have a very large parts list to order which will be woefully expensive! so any were that i can get good VALUE is very much appreciated. but in this case i think i will go with the OEM so thanks for your thoughts hopefully you have saved me from some headaches!!
