    P38A Drivers door handle

Apologies Tomcat as I believe that you also suggested replacement springs in the other post and I got carried away, with my ramblings, and forgot to comment further! My first action was to try and further tension the spring, (not very easy to do), but when I did some tests, (with various...

P38A Just bought a new (to me) Rangie!

But she looks so very nice so you can forgive her a few misdemeanours! I very much doubt whether your vehicles past history is anything like mine. I had to thoroughly jet wash all of the interior and I actually hosed down the inside too, (once I had stripped out all of the upholstery and trim...

    P38A Drivers door handle

I have just 'sweetened' the action of my passenger door locking mechanism and door handle. I serviced the lock, (cleaned and lubricated), then I removed the door handle, (one Torx screw at rear of handle at very edge of door where skin is very thin). Handle will pull out, (as long as you have...

    P38A Key button issue

I haven't taken mine to bits, (yet), but as BrianP38DSE says it looks like the microswitch membrane that protects the actual microswitch. Obviously your fob is now vulnerable to water ingress until it is replaced.

P38A Just bought a new (to me) Rangie!

My list is reasonably static, (I sort one problem out then another crops up to replace it)! Just wish mine was a fifth as nice as yours - if only to justify all of my effort!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Rebuilt fuse box and reinstalled into vehicle and powered up with no problems whatsoever. Did attempt to refit door cards but will need to read up on process as I can't see how you reuse the existing retaining clips without breaking them, (they are almost impossible to pull out of the door)...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

I have run to Grantham on a few occasions, (marathon training), following the old canal through the picturesque 'Vale of Belvoir'. Trouble is that Grantham is a major A52 bottleneck, (especially on Market Day), although I believe that they have received permission to build half of a bypass -...

I always try to avoid Grantham - unfortunately it lies directly between my home and my office!!

    P38A Changing doors?

As Wammers has already suggested the 'Bible' has most of the answers but - I have just 'serviced' my passenger locks this morning, (now having a break whilst my fuse box casing dries)! Before you start just bear in mind that you do not want to short any of the electrical connections, (once you...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

1/. Popped over to Norfolk to pick up cheap tailgate! 2/. Continued to service each door lock mechanism and switches, (door cards removed and jet washed), and currently drying! 3/. Stripped door handle/catch mechanism in attempt to restore smooth operation - not too successful to date! 4/...

    p38 keeps locking unlocking

Hi Bracken. Just looked at a similar issue on my 4.6HSE P38 earlier today and I 'located' the area by tapping/slapping each of the doors, in turn, and the tailgate and I noted that the central locking would cycle every time I slapped the passenger external door skin. Whipping the door card is...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Three weeks down the line and: - Positive 1/. Complete interior removed, jet washed, scrubbed and polished. 2/. Puncture in front passenger footwell repaired and sealed. 3/. Transmission Bowden cable removed, trimmed, (outer sheath damaged), and reconnected. 4/. Stereo Head Unit and CD Multi...

    L322 Strange Gear Selection Issue

As Saint has already stated it sounds as though the XYZ Switch or the Tranny shift Bowden Cable is slightly out of alignment, (although not sure how similar the Tranny shift mechanism is to that of the P38)? I know the P38 shift mechanism intimately as my shift was very stiff and the alignment...

    P38A Over pressuring/over heating.

Rob, The 'catalyst' for my venture into P38 'ownership' was due to a very tidy P38 diesel and I would now be the proud owner if my bid had got through - such is the price paid for 'rural' broadband! It was, (what I considered to be), reasonably priced considering its excellent condition but...

New owner, after suspension advice. Please

Saint, Mmgjlg, Watching this thread in eager anticipation as I did not have any EAS issues previously BUT my front nearside wheel has been 'dangling' for the past three weeks, (repairing passenger side floor well and also had to strip clean and trim auto tranny bowden cable as it was virtually...

Newark Classic Bike Show - This Weekend?

Although not directly related to the land of RR just wondered if any 'closet biker' forum members will be taking a day off, (from lurking about under their respective RR's), in order to pop over to Newark at the weekend...

L322 Battery drain problems (audio I think)

You should be fine but if you still encounter problems, (when you have reconnected the amp), it would be well worth removing the covers, (obviously after disconnecting it from the vehicle first), and you can then 'scrub' the circuit boards with a clean toothbrush soaked in isopropanol alcohol...

L322 Engine failsafe - Car left me stranded

A hairdryer can prove to be an excellent 'tool' for troubleshooting suspected thermal gradient/expansion issues, (especially with electronic modules), but it is not always practical - unfortunately. Any module that produces heat, (power semiconductors in the BCU is a good example), will slowly...

    New P38 Owner

Hi there Barry, I have recently joined the P38 clan by purchasing a 'wreck' of a P38 that had been used for 'off roading' and she is not very pretty, (inside and out), but she seems to run and does not have any serious traits, (that I have found to date)! Hoping to turn mine back into a...
