    P38A 98 2.5 DSE With electrical issues

OK, so i had a look at the underside of the carpet and it is indeed damp, i suspect leaking heater core O rings are the culprit. The plugs to the BECM appear to be in good clean condition, so my sparky mate removed the BECM and we have opened it up and there are a couple of areas that have some...

    P38A 98 2.5 DSE With electrical issues

So my P38 has been parked up for a couple of months whilst i organised some 2nd hand parts from the UK. Now back on the road i have a few other issues. First of all, on occasions it would be difficult to start. Normally it cranks for about 1 second and then fires up bit now occasionally i have...

Sport Lack of power 2.7 Diesel 2008

There is emission testing in NZ, only a visual smoke test, so removing the pipes is not an issue. Thanks for the heads up on diagnostics, that was going to be another ask for me. I have a P38 and BB Solutions diagnostic MV Extreme that i only ever used for the EAS, but i would like to know what...

Sport Lack of power 2.7 Diesel 2008

Took out the map sensor and it was gummed up so gave it a clean and popped it back in and although i thought there may have been some improvement i couldn't be 100% sure. I t certainly isn't any worse. I have noticed over the last week or so that there is often a flat spot when throttling off...

Sport Lack of power 2.7 Diesel 2008

What should i use to clean the MAP sensor? I know you can get cans of stuff to spray into the intake whilst running the engine that are supposed to clean the EGR, do they actually work, or more harm than good?

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Limped home blowing clouds of smoke. Probably looked worse in my rear view mirror than it actually was but it was night and there was a car up my arse with headlights on full beam.

Sport Lack of power 2.7 Diesel 2008

Gidday, Had my 2008 Range Rover sport 2.7 Diesel for a couple of months now and its been a huge improvement on my old P38 Diesel, until last week. I noticed a couple of times what seemed like a flat spot when accelerating and it soon developed in to a serious lack of power. Eventually the...

Sport 2008 sport Diesel 2.7 drive vibration.

I think a trans flush just puts off the inevitable and then there's the risk of bits of crap going through the trans making it an even bigger spend.

Sport 2008 sport Diesel 2.7 drive vibration.

Thanks Wazzjnr, i wondered about engine mounts as when i pull up at intersections and the engine idles i can feel a vibe that could be engine mount related. Why can't they leave things alone? Rubber engine mounts did the job for years with out a problem, and they would be much cheaper to replace...

P38 2.5DSE possible timing issue. Lack of power.

I thought all P38 2.5 DSE'S lost power going up hill and also were sluggish when cold. Mines been like that for the last 160,000kms and that's why my mates call it the "green slug". If your RR ran ok before you addressed the fuel pump leak and now you have a problem, surely it can't be down to...

    P38 Turbo

If they needed turbo timers, I'm sure the manufacturers would fit them as standard, but having said that, i always sit and let my old girl idle for 20-30 seconds at least before switching it off. Its not going to do any harm, and like Adamwest says, treat the old girl like a lady until you have...

Sport 2008 sport Diesel 2.7 drive vibration.

Spoken to a Transmission specialist that knows his stuff and he reckons that its a torque convertor issue. Really common with 6 speed auto. a couple of bushes wear that causes a pressure drop in the hydraulics to the TQ and results in a vibration. Will pull trans out and get fixed and update if...

Range Rover Sport vibration at low speed

In my opinion i would not do a power flush on the transmission. We hade some clown take us to court as his transmission failed after we had replaced his timing belt!!!????????. After many discussions with the owner I told him the only way in which we had let him down was by not advising him to...

P38 2.5 DSE Broken drive plate

Thanks Wazzajnr and Wammers and Grrrr. I have just returned from overseas and i am now on the hunt for the parts. I can't find anything at the moment on Ebay, but i have found a link to a wrecker and have emailed them for price and availability. Mean while if anybody has any other prospects for...

Sport 2008 sport Diesel 2.7 drive vibration.

Gidday, So whilst i am still trying to source parts for my P38 DSE, I decided to upgrade. I have bought a 2008 2.7 Diesel Range Rover Sport. I took the plunge and bought online at the other end of the country and was happy enough when i picked it up and drove it the 350km home but after...

P38 2.5 DSE Broken drive plate

OK so the box is out, the flexy plate has disintegrated, ring gear plate has 1 missing pin and a couple of bent ones. The crank angle sensor is also damaged. I have found the flexy plate at a supplier in the UK, any body able to tell me best place to get a ring gear drive plate? Thanks.

    P38A More water troubles.

Ive overheated mine half a dozen times. 370,000Kms and still the head hasn't been off (touch wood). I have replaced the viscous fan coupling twice in the last 130,000km (should've bought genuine the first time) and fitted a new radiator. Don't pull the head off until you are sure that's the...
