Thanks Griff, realise what it is now, someone had blanked it at some point and used some sort of plastic cup that had hardened and then split, I have placed a bit of rubber hose over the top and as said by matgriff plugged it with a bit of broom handle, should hold it for a while.

I have a discovery 2 tdi5, one of my rear air bags has gone, got some replacement bags, pulled my old bag off on O/S, the fitting on top for the air is not a push fit I had to un screw, are there two sorts of air bag for the td5

I did concider making my own, as you say it is possible to buy from abroad, America advertise on ebay but the cost is silly for something that costs nothing, so it is looking like a home made jobbie. Thanks for your help

On the discovery 2 the handle fixed to the outside of the driver’s door also has the key lock barrel, when you put your key into the lock, and twist the key a rod attached to the barrel inside the handle then in turn, turns the locking mechanism, this pin inside the handle is made from cheap...
