P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

I had been looking at the Facet Interrupters, which would simplify my hose / pipe work quite a lot... can't remember why I talked myself out of them exactly now. The Silver Road version looks like it'd be just the right pressure too. 18gph sounded really low compared to the other ones, but when...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

It's right up at the front by the distributor. It's some random black thing with no ID on it. One reason why I've not been hurrying to fit a new pump as most of the ones I've been looking at are gravity fed and so I'll need to mess about with the pipework - don't mind the hoses, but it's all...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

That's a good shout too - I've emptied the tank and it all looks beautifully clear, but it's an easy task to pull the supply pipe out too, which I hadn't thought of trying after finding no rubbish in the tank. I'll be dead chuffed if it's that easy to fix...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Thanks Rob that's really very kind! I am looking at the Facet Posi-Flow ones, or possibly the Holley Mighty Mite - they too need to be below the tank. But as Shippers suggests, need to swap out the filter first - might be the pump's just fine!

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Rest of the exhaust system already been patched together a good few times, manifolds themselves mostly rust now (although appreciate they're not 1mm 'steel' like the rest of the cheap crap normal exhausts are made from, so have a much longer lifespan) so just getting prepared ;)

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Thanks RR - will probably end up getting a custom S/S tubular exhaust system - looks like the RRC manifolds cost almost as much anyway so kinda thinking why bother! But if that doesn't end up being feasible, I've bookmarked those ;) Shippers, will definitely update when I've sorted that bit -...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Yea there's an old cheapie disposable filter still in line, didn't think to mention it as already ordered a replacement. Not found any others - don't think there's one pre-pump in any case! Looking at a 150micron one pre-pump, and a 40micron one between the pump and carbs. I like the idea of...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Thanks both! SUs on P6 definitely had a return, came off the banjo from the driver's side carb. And an electric pump. Will put something in the return line (won't hurt anyway right?). Doing that first as it was meant to be there and relatively easy/cheap to try. A replacement pump is the next on...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Two screws. Not replaced the manifold yet - first three companies I approached didn't reply! You'd think they didn't want custom. Got Powerflow going to look at it once I've sorted the fuelling situation (hopefully), good tip, will make sure they put some gaskets on for sure, but think the...

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Good idea Shippers, wish I'd thought of that, but I've already bought the diesel return pipe - at least it'll be slightly less to do!

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Have sourced a diesel return pipe so going to plumb one of these in - shame it doesn't have a blank fitted but not exactly an impossible task to fit! Now to be super clever and avoid disturbing the neighbours with loud noises like blowing my eyebrows off with sparks...

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

No that is infuriating. I did see on (I think) another forum thread elsewhere (shh!) there's a chrome (and firefox I think) add-on that gives you a sort-of workaround - called 'photobucket embedded image fix'. But what it does is give you a link to the file on their website, rather than...

    Steve's unexpected Series 3 rebuild.

Great photography by the way Steve - wish all posts had such good pics as it'd be easy to follow for us laggards waiting for a complete A-Z step-by-laborious-step guide! :) Good luck with the head!

FIXED!!! Early 90 door lock barrel replacement problem

Great to hear you got it all sorted in the end ... makes me wonder how on earth mine's still working with only one functioning ball! (ahem)

FIXED!!! Early 90 door lock barrel replacement problem

Mine only had one ball bearing - although I see from other threads it IS supposed to have two - and it still works, so I don't think it's that. Or at least, not JUST that, although it might not be helping! When you say it's not spinning but it won't lock, is it rotating as it should (ie 180deg)...

    90 project

Looking great Ash, nice work. I'll be happy if I get new door seals and the heaters hooked up on my two sometime in the next 6months, never mind new paint jobs and whatnot!

Giving an old S3 army girl a new lease of life

Glad to hear you're keeping her - have thoroughly enjoyed reading your experience! Gives me some hope with mine (although I'd kill to have a bit of *actual* room to work in! AND a driveway! Luxury :D

well needed restoration of my series 2a

Wouldn't even mind, if they've just decided they're not making enough, whatever, it's the doing it without notice, without allowing people to get their own material back or easily transfer it to another provider that ****es me off. I mean, the prices are bloody insane, but that's their problem...

well needed restoration of my series 2a

Bastard Photobucket have really f***ed up useful threads like this haven't they.

P6 V8 manifolds and loss of power

Sigh, only just had time to do a tiny bit of checking and to bodge up a throttle return spring - keeps it nicely in line though at least so no stress on the linkages. And no crud or water at all in the tank. BUT I did notice that the P6 has a return flow to the fuel tank, which this does not...
