P38A All smoke, no poke >_<

PHD103330 is the newer stiff version(better) of turbo inlet elbow.

P38 2.5 DHSE Engine noise and oil light

No, it can't be used twice. It ALWAYS comes loose when reused, been there few times. Don't do that, new bolt is cheap. Buy new from BMW or LR and then torque up to spec.

    Range Rover p38 2.5dse

When turbo inlet sucks pipe there is no airflow, that's why intercooler to manifold hose is sucked by engine. I've had this problem on at least 3 pre lift P38's, replacing turbo inlet elbow pipe cured the problem completly. I'ts strange that Land Rover didn't recall vehicles with this issue(but...

    Range Rover p38 2.5dse

Sucking of intercooler to manifold hose is a problem of turbo intake hose being sucked by turbo when floored. Pre 99 pipe is faulty and gets too soft with age and high temperature.

    P38A M51 diesel cooling improvement.

With good viscous fan(genuine) and good clean radiator(60mm thick core) i've never had problems with overheating. No electric fan will give more airflow than original 11 blade viscous fan unless it's few kilowats power.

Calling all p38 m51 owners in fact anyone I need help

I use TunerPro to read/write maps(had to do my own XDF to read maps correctly) and miniPro programmer to read/write eproms

Calling all p38 m51 owners in fact anyone I need help

Full load fuel cut is different from bmw, rest of maps too. EDC is not only fuelling map, there is much more maps in there. You just have to know how to read it correctly. Please don't confuse people if you never done that. ;)

Calling all p38 m51 owners in fact anyone I need help

From all maps from BMW an P38 diesel. There are big differences in injection pump timing maps, less in fuelling(slightly more fuel at higher rpm in BMW and fuel cut off starting at 4800 instead of 4400 rpm). It's too complex to explain, but almost every map is different. There are also big...

Calling all p38 m51 owners in fact anyone I need help

Retarded timing(for better turbo spool up + less noise) + smaller turbo(the same was used in Opel/Vauxhall Omega and older(with aluminium manifold) BMW TDS), hence why it get's more torque down low. Lower maximum power RPM comes fuelling and small compressor wheel. Also A/C compressor pulley is...

    P38 Glowplugs bad/good

Use only BERU for this engine, they heat up much faster than bosch junk. Genuine ones are BERU.

    P38A Another P38 Overheating Problem

First of all check radiator for baffle, britpart means problems. Never fit those parts in cooling system, especially thermostat. Use only genuine radiator fan clutch and good quality radiator and folow RAVE instructions for filling and bleeding the system. Also it may not be overheating, there...

    No difference apart from plug.

    P38 cooling

Don't buy nissens - its only 3 row thin(40mm) radiator. Buy 4 row(57mm) NRF 52129. Much better cooling capacity. Genuine radiator is also 4 row thick core.

Range Rover P38 diesel auto box gone mad

Injection pump Quantity adjuster problem or faulty MAF sensor. Earlier diesels(Without EGR and MAF) are much more reliable beasts.

P38A Fan speed on the heater

Setting fan speed by turning adjustment knob overrides all automatic behavior. Turn it to maximum speed and relays in bower motors are engaged giving full voltage.

Probably sticky wastegate flap and overboosting.

    Fluctuating Idle RPM -Diesel P38

Check maximum DTI reading when rotating engine by hand - it should read something over 2mm at the highest point.

    Fluctuating Idle RPM -Diesel P38

There are at least two holes in automatic version flywheel where locking tool fools you that it's in correct position. Hence why you may have static timing set wrong.

P38A 2.5L BMW Cylinder Head Change.

Most of mechanics have no idea how to do it properly, hence why there are "lifted" heads soon after.

P38A 2.5L BMW Cylinder Head Change.

I don't remember now, but something in something in sequence was in wrong order. May be confusing for someone with not much mechanical knowledge.
