I was thinking of steres of hardwood which of course are stacked 1 metre lengths of cut and split wood which we buy and they weigh about half a ton, I think, maybe a bit more. We find good dried Oak burns brilliantly so wondering how they can be better calorific value. They'll have reasons.

🤞🤞🤞 on the paperwork. Briquettes sound interesting. Any idea how they are made or what from? Hopefully hardwood. Cannot imagine a ton lasting that long, must be about what the equivalent to 2 cubic metres of metre lengths or 2 stere as the Frogs will have it? Does she have any other form of...

Just watched another "Born mechanic". Yet again Ant Anstead managed to lose a ton of money, £9k, on a Lotus Elan +2. What a nana! He had the head off, found a ding on its surface, got it mended for £200, (good move), did a ton of other work on it, but, due to never having thought to look at the...

No probs about the bulb most of them really are pretty well universal. Just the holder has very individual tags that slip through the cut-outs on the edge of the hole on the back of the cluster and these seem to be specific to each holder and hole. I'll put a pic up later the numbers are as...

No, it is the rear one. Remember, I had to do it for the MOT? I spent 1 1/2 hours on tinternet looking for one last night /this morning. I think I had a look on fleabay, TBH I am trying to avoid second hand as i expect they will suffer from the same problem. Found this...

That's a heck of a price. Is this because it has to be done in a special way? You can tell I haven't researched this at all!

Could it have been that as it was being dragged up the slipway, the ice was melting then reforming under the pontoon where it was in contact with the slipway? And when reformed acting to ice both together? This might create strong resistance as the ice might be having to be broken again and...

It's raining here today, not too cold. Good thing as we are stuck with electric heating. Wearing a fleece indoors now. W is out at her sewing group. Citroen and a spare parts search company have informed me that neither have a bulb holder for the fog light for the Pluriel. Citroen simply...

Ever since this issue came up, I have wondered whether or not the stuff can be scraped off and removed. I have to assume it isn't that easy or everyone would be doing this. Such a shame if the job you had done was done properly and of course you paid for it so that hurts. No easy solution I...

Well the plumberer has been. I talked him through the whole saga and at the end of it he said "Well I would have done the same as you and in the same order." So I was quite chuffed. Mind he wouldn't have got watter running out of pipes in an airing cupboard. 🤣 🤣 🤣 We agreed that the steps...

Well things have gone from bad to worse. I watched a YouTube on airlocks and stuff and a bloke was showing how if you had a by pass circuit on the system, and you leave the valve wide open it could cause similar problems like ours. Not being sure I popped up to the airing cupboard to have a...

Sympathies mate. Back in 1978 I had to apply for a carte de séjour in Lille as I was working there and would be there 8 months. The previous incumbent had written me a long letter telling me what I had to do. It helped a lot but he had left out some important bits. So me and my mates set off to...

Ideally I would like to remove and clean out the impellor, that was my goal for today, But just too fed up now and daren't even try anything else at the mo as W would go spare. Draining at the boiler would really be sticking my neck out. The boiler sits on the wall in the utility and to my...

You CAN change the aux belt without removing the fan. The blades are not regularly spaced so you need to turn it until you find the biggest space between blades. Position that where you need to use the spanner or socket etc on the tensioner. You will then be able to put it on. Just. It IS a...
