    Séries 3 Diesel Advice

I had trouble getting it up to 4th gear tonight but it was in grass ;)

    Should I or shouldn't I?

I enjoyed reading that reply! You just summed up why I live them too! Although I think my lightweight is one of the most comfortable drives I've ever had!

    Séries 3 Diesel Advice

Thanks folks! I'll find out tomorrow when she arrives exactly what the situation is. It may be the seller mistook the standard smokeyness of the diesel as being a potential issue, I really don't know. I'll look her over and report back! I'd read somewhere you can adjust the injector pump...

    Séries 3 Diesel Advice

There's a series section!? ;) I'm learning more about this forum every day! Thanks guys. I'm fairly series savy now, it's the diesel engine part I'm looking for help with. I can handle brakes, basic chassis checks etc and will definitely pass it by a proper mechanic and see how that...

    Séries 3 Diesel Advice

Hey LandyZoners, I've just bought a 1982 Series 3 pickup diesel, marine blue, on eBay. I've either got a great bargain or bought a dog! But I love a gamble and the seller seems genuine and straight. It's been off the road since 2009, but apparently dry stored with what look like 58k...

What have you done to your Landie today.

I drove my light weight on a 300 mile round trip through France from St Malo to Dinan then back up to Cherbourg. And I made it!!! I discovered radiator coolant pipe leaks, lost the carb throttle adjustment screw (replace with a jubilee clip bent to perfect tick over!) and thought my starting...

Hey! Road tripping around the UK

I've driven my defender from Southampton to Ullapool (then to the isle of Lewis) on many occasions stopping only once or twice for fuel and a ****! You'll be fine ;) enjoy!

    Zenith Carb ****ing fuel.....

Update: in a race against time to her running before driving over to France I ordered two carbs. A £90 bearmach zenith copy and a £50 britpart one. They were exactly the same model from China! So the bearmach is going back! Chucked the carb on, now runs sweet! I'm in France now, so far...

    Who's in 'Ampshire then?

Ha ha, she's already back to factory Bronze Green and looking great! I'll chalk that one down to experience! Yes I'm very much up for some Laning!

    Who's in 'Ampshire then?

Are any of you folks in the group of Landrovers I see meeting up at "Mick's Monster Burgers" above pompy sometimes?

    Zenith Carb ****ing fuel.....

Thanks guys. I'm glad I've gone for the two-solution pincer movent! I'll rebuild the zenith just for a laugh/experience and see how it works. I expect the bearmach copy will sort me out long term though. I'm hoping that's a reasonable compromise between a £40 cheapo job and an expensive...

    Zenith Carb ****ing fuel.....

Thanks @jamesmartin so would that mean needle valve is worn and a refurb kit might sort me out?

    Who's in 'Ampshire then?

I might be reading this thread a few years too late :) but.... I'm in Hedge end, lightweight and a 110 twin cab. Always up for meeting new like-minded folk! I do some deer management on a rather large local estate and this winter might want some help opening up a few tracks through the...

    Zenith Carb ****ing fuel.....

Hi all, hope I'm posting in the right place!!! My 1979 S3 petrol lightweight has recently started leaking fuel all over the hot manifold, and is also cutting out at idle, although runs fine with the foot down. On inspection I can see the throttle spindle is very loose, I can literally wiggle...

I finally got around to painting the lightweight properly!

Lightweight S3 leaking brake fluid..... Advice needed.

Thanks for the replies guys! Yes its probably the fluid escaping the terrible paint job :-) I've gone ahead and ordered a replacement part now, so its ready to fit. I'm also going to redo that paint job as not 100% happy with the last one!

Lightweight S3 leaking brake fluid..... Advice needed.

Hi folks, I noticed a puddle under landy the other day, sniffed it worried it was fuel, but it wasn't. As oil drips and other fluids regularly paint the drive near the old girl I didn't worry. Everything worked fine and sounded good so went for a drive. This morning I realised there were...

How NOT to roller paint a lightweight! Good for a laugh!

There's loads in NATO drab olive. I always wanted one in civy colours with a bit of character. She's retired now anyway ;)

How NOT to roller paint a lightweight! Good for a laugh!

That'll do for the day. Painted bumpers and grill. If this colour doesn't suit I'll send her back again and go bronze green.

How NOT to roller paint a lightweight! Good for a laugh!

Couldn't get my hands on Bronze Green and didn't want to wait, so got the nearest thing I could find made up from local paint shop. Far as I know it's enamel chromatic colour paint with gloss. However, paints 4 trade is where I got the Kermit colour, and that was much better (easier to roll...
