    Painting queries

Coming late to the party.... I buy from paint man and also paints for trade. Both were good quality and bronze green in satin settled down very nicely on my lightweight and marine blue on a S3. Good luck!

Series 3 lightweight weak starter - but think it’s air related!?

Ok, Even with direct jump cables to battery earth and to pos term on starter, NOTHING! I think the starter must be shorted/broken internally now. The bench might have just been lucky! Will swap it out tomorrow

Quick cup of tea before I venture out to try this! Thanks

Series 3 lightweight weak starter - but think it’s air related!?

Update.... things have got worse ;) I bunked off work all day and swapped starter (newish one) for original Lucas one. Bench tested Lucas starter and it’s spins like an animal, more punchy than “new” one. Also put a very large brand new battery into landy. Great fitted it into landy and...

Series 3 lightweight weak starter - but think it’s air related!?

It’s not a recon, was a new starter costing over £100, but I’ll try the original with a new battery as I’ve cleaned it up and tested it now. Thanks.

Series 3 lightweight weak starter - but think it’s air related!?

My first thought too but they’ve all been replaced! Brand new positive feed and negative earth to starter! This weekend I’ll check them and buy a bigger new battery just in case. So it’s not air related? It’s just that not enough power (due to earth or maybe battery) is available to...

Series 3 lightweight weak starter - but think it’s air related!?

hi all, My series 3 started to fail to turn over, so I put a new starter on it, it’s also got a new copy zenith carb. Problem is the starter is slow/weak. However, with pedal depressed just right it’ll turn nicely. Or with air filter pipe removed from top of carb, turns easy as butter! So...

    Off-roading in a 1979 S3 Lightweight

Yup I’m in Hampshire. From April I’ll be running a full time business with this estate doing deer stalking, wildlife photography and butchery/wild cooking courses all in vintage Landrover’s. I am considering hosting paid off road days if there’s interest and insurance isn’t crazy. I’ll post...

Hi folks, First time I've ventured into the Range Rover section as all my posts to date have been for series!!! However today I got in the Range foot on brake, hit button and car didn't start! Dash lights up, ignition lights etc, lots of noises that sound like pumps? Clicking a bit...

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

New £2.99 switch arrived, I unscrewed old one and put new one in! Bingo, instantly working brake lights! Cheers all

    Series 2 main beam?

You sirs are geniuses! Soon as you mentioned foot button I thought "Jesus I've read that!!!!!" Found the floor switch! Thanks!

    Series 2 main beam?

Hi another series 2 question as I'm new to owning one! When I flick lights on dash I have only two options, side lights and main beam. However main beam has a blue light on dash which worries me I'm blinding folks? But I cannot see any other switch or leaver to change to dipped. Do they...

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

Yes this one is top mounted if that makes sense. So only when you depress the brake does it create a circuit. Still waiting for new one.

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

I shall take a look when the switch turns up! The old one is pretty well rusted into the thread and bracket so that'll be the first challenge! The one that fell apart was just a bar of copper and a spring inside so yeah, as you say, pretty cheap but pretty simple! Gotta love the old landy...

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

Ok guys, it was indeed a switch above pedal! Very corroded and fell off in my hands. Shorted the contacts and brakes light up so ordered a £2.99 replacement switch! Cheers!

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

Thanks both. I'll take a good look today in the light. I suspect it's got the old style hydrolic switch on the brake service under the hood. Don't think I saw a modern switch on the pedal. I'll start diagnosing it today. Will post back what I find.

Should a 1964 series 2 have brake lights!?

Hi all, Possibly a dumb question but I've just bought a series 2 from 1964. When testing lights they all work but no brake lights come on. Before I go checking wires and whether some Muppet put single fillement Bulbs in, I thought I'd check....... SHOULD a series of this age have brake...
