What does the ECU temp sensor do? I have an ongoing cold start propblem on mine (4.0) and am looking for some kind of temp sensor to replace which won't let it start below 5 deg!

Who do you use now out of interest? I have used Sayers a bit for my P38 and they are reasonable but don't seem to be able to diagnose electrical/sensor faults that well Josh

This is still a problem but getting worse, it's now 6 degrees and it won't start. However I have managed to clarify that the engine IS turning but not catching and firing. Any thoughts? Could it be coils? Lately when starting it runs a bit lumpy and smells every rich before clearing to smooth...

I don't think you need to spend that much but there are a few retailers who seem to think smart late P38s are creeping up. My biggest worry would be engine and box. If you can find a private one with these issues sorted then the rest seems to be fixable with a decent Indy and not blow the bank.

Maybe its getting rid of something of relative luxury for pittance. Certainly if mine went boom I would be gutted to let it go for what it would be then worth.

That is what has happened with mine. I will order parts, some paint and get it done. Its a very 90s Peugeot sound when your colleague pulls open the door and just as the smell of leather hits their nose they are greeted with *CRACK*

Aha - many thanks Wammers. I will have a look at the door today to see if I need to replace the assembly inside the door. Does this always need doing?

Does anyone know of a proper sort for this door cracking noise. I know the worn pin/bad design causes it but can I just get new parts? (ie where to buy new parts rather than just beating in a bigger pin) The noise really ruins the entry and exit to the otherwise lovely car!

I am pretty sure the engine was turning but I didn't want to keep the starter going too long for fear of damaging it. How can I lubricate the sprung starter gear?

Do you think it needs a tap even if it sounds like the starter is spinning? I thought it might be fuel pump or something not getting fuel into the engine?
