    i did this conversion just two weeks ago, what you need to do is swap the top half of the FIP, this is a much easier job than removing and refitting the complete pump! but i no for a fact that this must be changed, if it was an early pump your output will be slightly less then the later pumps...

    i thought as much, and got the angle grinder out at 11pm last night, to remove the pump, glad i did as the two unions on the top were rusted like mad, and the pipes were all split and horrible! i just wanted confirmation, that i had done the correct method for test at the start?

    ok, so i removed the relay, ignition off, put power to the opposed slot where the relay blade goes, and nothing, no noise, nothing, not a drop of fuel.. was this the correct procedure? does this confirm that i had a duff pump? regards JR

    but if i am not getting fuel out either ends of the filter after sitting up for a week or so, checking the filter and finding some crud i changed it, now i want to fire up the pump, a)to prime the lines again, and b)check if the pump works.. maybe you have other ideas?

    is this pump relay under the bonnet? and when you say run a live from battery do you mean use the car battery or an external battery? regards JR

    thanks for taking the time to reply, my lock is superlocked, that is all i know, i shut the door and then it wouldnt open making me look quite foolish, so i am now going to follow the links i have dound and use the long screwdriver, hammer method, hopefully i can swap the neccessary parts...

    trial and error is normaly my choice, as it is much less expensive, but i am at my tethers end, as it does seem to such a minute tap of a the FIP top can make such a difference, that i have finally given in and want to use a computer... to get it exact..? make sense?
