I'm waiting for my video to upload. There is no smell of fuel in the smoke, no oil in coolant, and the oil level is at the low line. I just changed the oil and filter about two weeks ago as well as the starter yesterday. This is getting painful!

My 1987 Land Rover 90 with 19J engine just lost power after spewing black smoke from the exhaust for about a mile in stop and go traffic. Now I'm stranded in a parking lot and the engine is knocking hard with white exhaust. Anyone have any idea what the issue might be? I'm working on...

Here is the bracket from the old starter that will not fit on the new one.

You will also notice in the lower left-hand corner of the picture, there is a earth cable that connects the engine block to the chassis. Is this why it is cranking over just fine without the other cable attached?

I just replaced the starter and it cranks over now. However, the earth cable no longer has anywhere to attach (see picture below). On the old starter there was a bracket that it attached to but this new starter does not have it. Without it connected, I was still able to crank the engine so...

Okay, thanks guys. Is the return pipe the short hose that is fastened by two hose clamps on each end? That was leaking a month ago and I replaced the hose and clamps only to have it start leaking again about a week later! Most likely user error on the fitment...

I just removed the starter motor after getting the infamous "click" on my 1987 LR 90. Lots of gunk built up inside. I'm curious if there is something else that I should be worried about due to this build up before installing the new starter today. Thoughts?

An aerial base? Is that for an antenna or something of that nature?

I have a 1987 Land Rover 90 and this part was hanging out of the front right wheel well this morning. It attaches to a cable that leads into the cab of the truck. Can anyone tell me what it is? Thanks
