I use tractor oil too . My engines have run sweet on it for years . I.E. Subaru legacy, and disco 300tdi.

Wondering if its a mileage thing, age, or servicing intervals or just pot luck.

Have a 300tdi year 95 with 130k on clock, and planning a long trip next summer. Is it a good idea to do it around now as I hear a lot blow around 150k, mine runs fine so am I just asking for trouble or should I leave it .

sedimenter blocked or air leak somewhere . also lift pipe on fuel gauge in tank sometimes rots.

You can buy a dye colour from a motor factors, pop it in coolant and it will show up where leak is.

Possibly swivel preload is not correct.

Mine was like a watering can . By the time I got it sorted i found at least 6 different leaks. door seals, bulkhead gutter trays,floor bungs, rear door which rotted rear floor. Advice is to fix leaks before rust eats your disco.Also I now check floor mats yearly ensuring no leaks. talcum powder...

My method is using about two yards of garden hose with a funnel at top. In engine bay strapped with tie wrap to bonnet rod. Just pour in amount and have a beer while waiting and I pre warm m90.

I had to take wings off few times found a few holes and leaks . best fix them leaks or you will have major work in future welding.

Is recirculation working properly ?. are the window duct pipes still connected . When working the system clears mist quickly on my disco and no AC either.

Got vibration and bearing noise at 60mph . When removed front shaft its gone.Fitted new shaft and its there . Can anyone help me diagnose if its front diff , transfer front output bearing or something else ? Are there certain sounds tests etc. The front diff has very little backlash. but...

I was like you got a disco 3 within 6 months went back to a 300tdi, running costs were too high. Did like the comfort however.

check the T piece junction which is plastic and prone to snapping .causes low vacuum .Happened to me ,just a suggestion .

Progress.... I removed front prop and rumble is gone ! The front prop is new, so i suspect either front diff or transfer box output bearing, which has a tiny bit of movement up/down , read on threads this is acceptable ? Any advice welcomed . Thanks.

1 Did you prime new damper ? 2 Swap tyres about front to rear, 3 check tracking and 4 any bent rods.
