Disable the immobiliser to replace the ECU. The current ECU has died, and has no communication with any diagnostic tools. I have a spare ECU in the shed, from another MEMS3 Freelander, but it will not work due to different security codes :(

This Rover 75 is kindly donating its 1.8 Turbo lump, ready to be dropped into a Freelander with a 1.8 with HGF 150bhp + 160LbFt as standard. 205Bhp + 199LbFt with a remap And it will be a daily driver :)

I will be aiming for 200bhp, and 200LbFt (265Nm-ish) Just need to know the clutch will be upto the job before putting it all back together

Just checked, the L-Series only has 155LbFt? Seems rather low for a turbo diesel... Tell me more about his HD clutch though. The part numbers I get are UQB500010 for the clutch plate, and URB000070 for the cover...

Unless it is a genuine facelift car, that was bought with a broken head gasket, facelift bits went onto an early car, and pre facelift bits went back onto the newer car, so it was still "complete" for anyone unsuspecting...

Never seen a TDV6 head gasket fail. Have seen a few issues with cracked blocks though... Before going down that route, check the EGR coolers. Will give very similar symptoms to head gasket issues, and are a whole lot cheaper to replace than head gaskets, or an engine...

Is there a reasonably priced replacement available yet? My local dealer can get one, but at £320... Not too good at the whole fabrication thing. Car is off the road due to no MOT, and the cradle is in 3 pieces :rolleyes:
