    p38 weirdness?

Think you could well be right! Not sure how, when it’s such a simple job? Will remove it and see what I have done wrong!

    p38 weirdness?

Not sure, will check! The front air bags can be deflated using my nanacom ( no faults found on the eas system).

    p38 weirdness?

2001 4.0L. Just refurbished eas pump and replaced seals on the eas valve block. When air tank empty the pump now takes about 5 minutes to fill up ( 140psi ) and turn off. When you turn on the ignition, all for lights come on the eas rocker switch, then go off and the light flashes where the...

    P38 occasional hard brake pedal.

2001 4.0L . Occasionally the brake pedal goes hard when needed. The brakes will stop the vehicle after a good hard push. When the system is de-pressurised it takes 30 seconds for the pump to get to pressure and turn off. It then takes two presses of the brake pedal for the pump to cut in again...

    P38, fitting new engine?

Don’t think so? Will be going out to do some more work on it soon. Will try and connect a few more things up to see if anything wants to fit there? As a last resort I will have a look through rave ( not sure its me but I don’t find rave very user friendly)!

    P38, fitting new engine?

Just getting around to putting a reconditioned engine on my 2001 4.0L p38. Just got the engine bolted to the transmission tunnel and can’t remember if anything should be attached to the metal bracket (pictured) that bolts to the transmission tunnel. Should have taken more photos when removing...

P38 Thor oil filter housing ( should I worry )

Many thanks for that! Never having spent that amount of money on an engine before i don’t want to mess it up by having oil pressure/flow issues.

P38 Thor oil filter housing ( should I worry )

Hello. Hope someone can advise? Just about to put in a reconditioned engine into my 2001 4.0L p38. I was cleaning off the timing chain cover last night and noticed what looked like a slightly eroded hole in the oil filter housing. It looks as though the hole is designed to be there, but the...

P38 hard to start, running roughly!

Problem solved! I always find it slightly annoying when a poster does not post the solution when requesting help, so here goes, I went over all the work I had done and it appears that while trying to get the job finished in bad light I got the connectors for the AIC valve and coil pack...

P38 hard to start, running roughly!

Many thanks for the replies. A tad windy to raise the bonnet to the service position at the moment but when it dies down a bit I will get out there and re-check everything I did!

P38 hard to start, running roughly!

Hello all. I have just changed the Valley gasket on my 2001 4.0L p38. It is now very difficult to get started ( you have to have your foot hard down on the accelerator), runs very roughly, and stalls if you take your foot off the accelerator? Not had much chance to investigate but I assume it’s...

    Concrete pad.

That does look rather nice . Need to see how much money left in the pot after new roof and house electrics!

    Concrete pad.

Many thanks. Would love a lift, but think it may be a little much for the neighbours!

    Concrete pad.

Many thanks for that. Would love to have a lift, but might get complaints from the neighbours ( it would have to be on a front drive). Good idea about the I beams - would be able to fabricate an removable engine crane. ( have welder, will weld! )

    Concrete pad.

After changing jobs and now not having access to vehicle lifts, pits etc. I have been doing all my maintenance on a pea shingle drive, supporting axle stands, and jacks on 10mm steel plate. We are having some work done on the house and. It seems the perfect time to splash out on a concrete pad...

    P38A Lambda sensor?

2001 4.0L . Emissions were a little high for the mot, but managed a pass ( Italian tune up, cat cleaner, cleaned maff). Plugged in the nanocom ( after repairing damaged obd socket ) and found fault P1075 - running rich bank b. Swapped the lambda sensors over this resulted in P1072 fault - rich...

    P38 emissions fail

Must admit it was raining cats and dogs when I dry fitted it, so I just clamped it all together! I will get under it again today and get the job done properly! ( must admit I thought as long as the exhaust was quiet that it was doing its job, didn’t realise it might have an effect on emissions).

    P38 emissions fail

Didn’t actually get a print out of the emissions fail. I will give them a call on Monday and see if they still have it? I replaced the exhaust from the cat back and will check tomorrow that it is all tight ( if it has a leak downstream from the O2 sensors would that effect emissions?).

    P38 emissions fail

Is that the iacv? Its a bit late to go out and pop the bonnet!
