    Range Rover classic restoration

Okay so flushed everything through and now the temperature sits perfectly in the middle, heater however isn't hot however. Not the biggest issue at this stage of the resto. So tomorrow I will get some petrol and take it around the field to see what does and what doesn't work mechanically the...

    Range Rover classic restoration

The Range Rover moved under its own steam for the first time today. And when I say steam I mean it because after 60 yards it broke down in true Range Rover style. Okay it hasn't done any damage but I think the water pump is knackered as it got into the red after 2 minutes. And the heater isn't...

    Range Rover classic restoration

I'll be keeping the White the Range Rover is completely original except for the welded metal of course. I really like the bright blue of the early 2 doors but I've already got a marine blue series 2. It's one of the first with the five speed gearbox that was also used in the 90's and 110's...

    Range Rover classic restoration

Ive had my fair share of struggles already during this rebuild, the sill was one of the biggest. But I don't have access to any fancy tools really, angle grinders and welders are as fancy as it gets, I'm working outside and unless I work quick the new panels I put on will already start rusting...

Well a lot of progress yesterday, I was outside since 9am until it got dark, didn't stop for tea breaks or lunch but at the end of yesterday this happened. A new inner and outer sill all in welded/bolted, The footwell all repaired and painted. Complete PITA to do on your own but it's...

    Range Rover classic restoration

So small update as I haven't done one for some time but life and work got in the way. So achievements since the last update, the indicators and windscreen wipers are fully functional. The rear is complete apart from some carpet. The biggest job which is still undergoing is the inner and outer...

    Range Rover classic restoration

So not a huge amount to update as I've just been trying to get the sill off but rotten bolts are making difficult as is the weather. But I was looking through the electrical system and I'm missing a relay. And can't find it anywhere on the Internet. It's the relay between the hazard switch and...

    Range Rover classic restoration

So no pictures for this update as it was a very messy job. But after the first and only start up a couple of weeks back I noticed very little oil reaching the rockers. So yesterday was investigating that. Where the car had sat for 4 years+ all the old oil had turned into a very crispy solid...

    Range Rover classic restoration

My chassis is completely factory. Not a patch on it or if there is it's been done very very well. It's one of the best chassis I've seen on something with a green oval. The suspension had a complete overhaul with new springs and bushes which looks very good. So it's looking like, welding...

    Range Rover classic restoration

It lives after 4 years it lives and sounds great even better with just the downpipe on. So why wouldn't it start? Well after rebuilding the carb all of Sunday via the edelbrock owners manual it still wouldn't start and I was running out of ideas. So I got an assistant to see if there was...

    Range Rover classic restoration

The one picture I forgot was this Stamped on every window. The chassis has never been welded and looks very good just needs a coat of paint. The a pillar is something I'm still planning. The windscreen has to come out and I will see how far the rust has got whilst that's out and decide on...

    Range Rover classic restoration

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I have found an issue with the fuel system. Which is probably not helpin the starting. I put in 15 or so litres of fresh fuel, in a brand new fuel tank that was empty when I bought it. I took a sample of fuel that the fuel pump would send and it came out yellow...

    Runaway td5

It's not overly common as said diesel in the oil or the oil seal in the turbo on the intake side failing. General servicing is best and when I service I don't meant checking oil levels but having a good look in the engine bay, looking for anything loose or upcoming problems taking about 30...

    Range Rover classic restoration

I think this is my third restoration I've written on here and then I forget about updating it but it's probably the biggest project I've undertaken so far but that's where the fun is (I hope). So I bought this a very original 1984 Range Rover classic with the original number plate engraved on...

    3.5 rover v8 won't start

New choke and throttle today, along with quarter of a tank of petrol. I think it's a fuelling issue. At certain throttle positions it picks up yet at idle it doesn't want to do anything at all. Does anyone know of a guide to resetting the single weber carb for a 3.5 v8?
