MTs are more likely to put strain on the admittedly weaker drivetrain components on a Freelander. I've had Defenders, Discoveries and Freelanders and have offroaded all over UK and mainland Europe. ATs are what you want on a Freelander :)

W5W would certainly work as a means of telling you something is wrong. Granted, it would also blind you and probably fill the car with the faint smell of burning PCB.... ;)

Ah! Try Autobulbs direct. You want R284 (plain 2.3w) or R286 (coloured and plain available, 1.2w).

Now the bad news.... They're LEDs soldered to the dash PCB, not bulbs. Best get the soldering iron and solder pump out....

I'd start by looking at wheel speed sensor.....

Just put that big, red arrow in it, that should sort it.

Let's say you will sell it before it ever fails again. The mod takes 30 minutes, the "proper" fix takes 4 hours. You're still 3:30 up on the deal. Time = money. In my case, that 3:30 is worth enough to me that I would do this if my thermostat failed.

Simon, I'll take them at 40mm ta. I can't find a viable alternative at 30mm so will just have to get my thinking hammer out when I fit them :p
