I took a lot of the sound proofing out of my Defender, nothing but a rust trap. If the chassis is sound have it treated with Dinitrol, expensive but good :-)
I had the same list of problems on my 90 tdi 300. There were a number of causes. Water in the relay, fuse not seated properly, water in rear indicator lens, faulty indicator switch (runs off same fuse as gauges). Just work your way through connections with wd40 and emery board.
Keeps passengers quiet and the rubbish on the radio is not worth listening to. I was thinking of removing the radio but that would leave a hole in the dash :-)
Open cell foam. Rubbish. The pictures on the website look amateurish.
The noise stops conversation and renders the radio useless. There are other benefits.
Rubber mat, foam, plywood, carpet.....
I'm surprised you can still get in it. I stripped all the matting out of my 90, nothing but a rust trap. The noise is part of the experience :-)
The Fluke reviews did mention one or two that were DOA but I thought I would not be unlucky enough to get a duff one, that's why I don't bother with lottery tickets :-)
My rear wiper motor was rusted solid where water ran down inside the door, it obviously needed replacing. Check the plugs on the wiper wiring loom before you buy any spares. Got the refund on my duff multi meter yesterday, no problems:-)
The bottom of the washer bottle is probably caked up with lime scale or manky old screen wash residue. Put a hose pipe in the washer bottle and give it a blast for few minutes. All sorts of crap came out of mine.
Neilly and Blue Beasty,
I printed out the circuit diagrams and used my multi meter to work from the dashboard switch back to the wiper motor and found a bad connection. Everything works. Hurrah. It took about 4 hours but saved me a garage bill. Thank you very much :)
