Series 3 How much bleeding do brakes need?

No pumping on the pedal if using an ezibleed kit, Bob, but I agree that it sounds like air is getting in somewhere. OP - I've just done the same on mine after a full brake overhaul, I was getting bubbles disappearing quite quickly and definitely didn't go through 2 litres of fluid.I did have to...

    Tub fitment.

I found by the time the steering column is in you lose any movement in the bulkhead, I guess that's why you should get your body alignment sorted before getting that far. I think I was quite lucky with mine as I didn't go in the correct order at all.

Series 3 A Less Leaky Transmission.

How nice work. Are those machined '' in house"?

    New swivels advice needed.

I got some from Dingocroft, pretty sure they weren't BP but that was a couple of years back now.

Series 3 Rumble on part throttle

Having run Harry round for a few miles now it's clear there is a strong rumble coming from under the driver area on part throttle. No rumble on no-throttle or above 50% throttle upward. There is also a terrible rumble using 4wd. I'm fairly confident of a transfer box front output bearing on the...

    SWB re-chassis

Whay He's on the road! last on the road in 2007, 4 years of rebuild, 2 location moves, one wedding, one daughter and about five and a half grand later...:cool: Took the Mrs and the little one to a country pub a few villages over, just because. Hopefully lots more odd days out to...

    SWB re-chassis

The new belts come with an assortment of fittings, I've got a load left, let me know if you need anything in particular. So, re-test tomorrow morning! I've had another go at getting a good pedal, another round of bleeding and adjustment. Bit of a faff as one of the front snail cams...

    Series 3 Side light fittings

Right, so I've fitted the new rear brake / side light holders and got some news bulbs. The motor factor only had Lucas bulbs on show behind the counter but when asked said he had another brand out back; these ones were Ring. We had a look at both side by side; there wasn't much in it to be...

    Rayleigh Seat Trim

Does anyone have a decent picture of Rayleigh trimmed seats in their tratter? I'm refurbing a set of Defender seats for my Series and no one does the covers I actually want (Neptune) as the material is out of stock, so I'm looking at others; Denim Twill, Moorland or maybe Rayleigh, if I can get...

    SWB re-chassis

Ah ok. I've just fitted a centre lap belt, much the same that pictured but the reel is mounted down the side of the seat, on the same mounting point as the drivers clasp in fact.

    Grease in gearbox.

In the OP, or rather his mates defence, you can put one shot grease in swivels so its not a massive leap of the imagination. I'd probably hit you with wrench if I found you trying to put grease in my gearbox, however....

    Series 2 Advise on buying

Took mine for a test run round a field and got plenty of fresh cow patina in the tyre treads. I also trod in some of it so there's some patina in the drivers footwell too.

    Series 3 Side light fittings

yeah, it can be a bit of a nighmare. I just cant imagine that something tat is relatively complex can be made properly and sold for less than £3, just doesnt sound right to me. What is the hedgehog for? I dont feel it is morally justifiable to fit LEDs to a series land rover, and for a...

    SWB re-chassis

Yeah, does happen. I had a Civic a few years back, blew both brake light bulbs on the way to the test centre; nothing ever went wrong others in the 5+ years of ownership. It's like they "know"... I've just realised I've been working flat out to get all these bits and pieces sorted I haven't...
