Freelander 1 SOLVED - Headgasket changed - no spark - timing?

Gents, Having just completed the head gasket change on my sons Freelander (1.8 petrol) we now seem not to be able to get it to start. We checked the timing on the cam sprockets before and as we hadn't moved the crank at all until we rotated the engine by hand to check it I'm pretty certain that...

Series 3 ACR Powerplus cylinder head & cam -anyone done this?

West Sussexian refugee actually :) My thing up here is hills and more hills followed by rather steep mountain passes and I have a trailer so i'm after a bit more pulling power like a steady 70 or 80kmh would be nice as this is the speed limit on such roads. I am also assuming that i'll have to...

Series 3 ACR Powerplus cylinder head & cam -anyone done this?

I did the carb already and reading the blurb from ACR seems like doing the whole set should bring it up quite a lot. The back story being in Switzerland is it's an almost impossible to get a series 3 with a TD engine upgrade through the Helvetian version of an MOT, you have to virtually have the...

Freelander 1 Hubble Bubble Boil n Trouble Headgasket

Hi folks, previously we (my son actually) had a non starting F1, so thanks to the help here we replaced the dizzy and rotor and got her running. However previously he had an overheating escapade when the hose from the expansion tank came off and he ran her dry, but she was running. Now its got...

    Series three rear oil seal

I have done this twice now on my 5mb and the mistake I made was not removing the flywheel housing the first time, replacing the "O" ring behind it and fitting the main oil seal while the housing is out make a huge difference, the first time I didn't remove the housing and just pressed the new...

Freelander 1 Petrol - not starting off to the rescue the Son.

Sadly not in Switzerland even from the Landrover dealers they take advantage, for a country with only 9% VAT they cry import costs, storage costs and blah blah. The assumption is that if you live here you must be earning vast amounts of money which is no longer the case with even the big banks...

Freelander 1 Petrol - not starting off to the rescue the Son.

Yea we found them . Here's the scary part, the swiss Britpart dealer wants 56 quid for the cap and 40 for the rotor ... plus local postage we would be at nearly £100.- So the parts are speeding their way from Paddocks. Thanks for the help. Simon

Freelander 1 Petrol - not starting off to the rescue the Son.

Well after a finger freezing half an hour it turns out that the dizzy cap and rotor are to blame, the spring loaded center pin that connects to the rotor is in a million tiny pieces and the rotor looks like .. well 20 years old which i guess it is. Having no looked on paddocks i'm struggling to...

Freelander 1 Petrol - not starting off to the rescue the Son.

This is my faithful F1 that I have donated to my Son who just passed his test, it was my daily driver ( I confess I'm now running a Pathfinder) and all was fine until Monday morning (it was running on Sunday night), turned over but no start, he has bought a new battery (swiss winters can easily...

Disco 2 Front end body parts (asking for a friend)

Guys, a swiss mate of mine with the same series D2 face lift has managed to wipe out the front end and i mean its a real mess and we cant seem to find to find much in the way of body parts online for these. Any pointers? Wings, inner wings, front valance, headlight panel and and and ..

    Disco 2 Overheating again, eh?

is the moral of the tale here get proper tools? a white dot with tipex and 50p protractor is not the solution right? Are there good bolts and bad copies? i'm kind of starting to think that whilst cheaper parts might work on the Series that your better off using as good a quality as you can on a...
