Yeah, I get that about dropping the movement down through the chassis, but I'm sure it could be done in a much more simple way. I (and many others) have got a separate damper, so don't really need it to do that. It just seems like a completely over-designed unit for what it actually achieves.

You certainly need to remove the bolts along the front edge of the roof. Not sure whether you can get enough flex in the roof to allow it to lift enough to fold the windscreen forwards from beneath it, or whether you'll need to at least slacken off all the other roof bolts, too. Certainly not...

I had the spring under the collar/canceller, as you have it now. My collar looked like yours, not like part 589553, so I'd suggest the diagram doesn't apply to the collar we have. The diagram does look very odd. Not sure what use the spring has in that position. It makes a lot more sense for it...
