To buy or not to buy??

Just discovered some 'Freelander challenge' videos on YouTube. Well impressive, plus they are all 1.8 or the V6.. nice to know they use the K series for racing though. Anyone know what sort of mods they are allowed to/commonly do?

To buy or not to buy??

Yeah, think I'll keep looking. I'm certainly in no rush anyway! I'd be happy to sort those issues, but probably want to spend a bit less.

To buy or not to buy??

That was my issue, £800, didn't want to move much either so walked away. First one I have driven though and I was pleased with how's it was to drive. Much smoother than my BMW!

To buy or not to buy??

Ahh ok great, I'm after a facelift anyway. Went to look at one today, it was almost up to temp on the gauge. Coolant level was a little low, and there wasn't much pressure in the system, I opened the coolant bottle and it was just kinda black murkey water, didn't smell of much, no signs of mayo...

To buy or not to buy??

I also saw a bit about the PRT when I was watching a few YouTube videos. It was mainly MG guys fitting the Freelander PRT's to theirs. Does that mean some freelanders didn't have them fitted?

To buy or not to buy??

Good advice. Cheers fellas. I am hopefully going to look at one today so I will check out any history. If there isn't any I can judge the state of the system by looking at the coolant I guess. Interesting, what's the fix for slipped liners then? I am always quite delicate with my car's when...

To buy or not to buy??

Well, after loads of poking around I think I fancy a facelift 1.8 now.. Assuming I buy one that is currently working and is not in a state of hgf.. (presuming that it will have had it done previously at some point) what is the best way to keep it serviceable? Am I best to take the head off a...

To buy or not to buy??

Yeah think it's worth a look. Although I hear it's pretty much impossible to determine the condition of the ird without draining oil, even then it's not concrete? The 'few issues' is basically a stuff clutch and hard to get into first. Which from what I have read sounds like the actuator arm...

To buy or not to buy??

Hmm, didn't realise they would die so quickly. Cheap is £500.. so it maybe leaves about a grand to spend before it's beyond what the car is worth? Can probably do all the work myself but it will all take time, something I don't have a great deal of at the mo! It's also seems surprisingly...

To buy or not to buy??

Thread revival!! If you had the opportunity of buying a bargain 1.8 with 60k on the clock (checked with not history).. with a few issues.. one of which being that the prop had been removed... Would you run a mile? To me, at such low mileage the VCU won't have gone and caused any/much damage...

    can you guess these connectors?

Yeah hwhe spent a fortune, it is literally brand new. Rebuilt engine, IRD, gearbox and diff, all bushes, all steering, clutch, hydraulics, everything. I have a few more pics il share when I get chance! I will get him to check the wire colours.

    can you guess these connectors?

Oh aye, itl be like new when he's finished! I think he already has the headlights, fogs and spots plugged up so can't be them.. He did try to connect them together but the wrapping on the loom won't allow it . Can't imagine they would build a loom with a connection in it either .?

    can you guess these connectors?

A friend of mine has done a full restoration on his 1.8 pre facelift freelander. All is well apart from these two mysterious connectors that have no home.. they are on the left hand side of the engine bay (passenger side) they are part of the loom that comes from under the battery tray, which...

    Show us yer Freelander!

Odd I'm certain the one I went to look at had a little hatch, pretty sure it even had a lock on it if I remember correctly.. but then I don't own one (yet) so i am in no position to say!

    Freelander 1 Exhaust Box

    Show us yer Freelander!

Would be good if you could stash that under the boot floor or something, no space under there?
