Grrrrr- Alternator was checked & found okay by an electrician. Part of the issue is Alternator D+ wire has power without IGN ON (checked after disconnecting from the Alternator) . That wire coming from BECM and spliced n connected to Rly 12 via diode D2.

Relays 15,19, 12 & glow plug relay are enough. Other relays have no link with the in tank pump. Bit of hassle to put the old fuse box back. Was there any situation where new fuse boxes gave trouble? Wonder it's the BECM connection to Alternator.

Agreed, it got to be the inj pump., but the plunger thrust washer NO. BTW, without the pump shaft key engaged, it will never start as there will be no injection.

If you mean the 'injection pump', no. Just commented on the other thread to keep the others informed on the results. Wammers, if the thrust washer had dropped, the pump would have destroyed by now as the internals hitting the plunger. (from VW AUDI forums)

Finally got the timing cover removed and checked the timing. Here is a photo;, bit slanted but shows the timing on spec despite 'coloured links' far way from the timing marks. Now the timing verified, I don't know what else to do to solve my 'hot start' issue.:mad::mad::mad:

Yes, the woodruff key is there. No idea about the 'bright links' not aligning.:( Yet the timing should be okay as within timing marks it got the 12 links. Now, what else to do?:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Managed to get the timing cover out while Cyl head & sump in place WITH crank locked at TDC The coloured links are not aligning with timing marks , may be the chain walked over the sprocket.?o_O But within crank sprocket mark & the inj pump sprocket mark (no.6, tippexed), there are 12 links...

Then will continue on what I started, to check the bottom chain. Thanks for your views.
