OK quick update on this as I havnt done anything on the truck for a while... Tonight I added an earth from the second alt body to my tube front wings which are welded to the chassis. This made the alts charge to 13.2v on tick over and then I added a large earth from the main battery to the aux...

If your ordering from the UK I'd ordered a few seals ect so that you have some more for the tool box when it needs to be done again. Rather have a spare than be 5 miles away from anything in texas lol

Check the wiring as it comes out of the chassis at the rear, I just brought another 90 and i couldn't get the pennant live in the back to work. Had a look under the rear and boom typical bodge job fix of twist and tape where it's failed at the rear loom

Thanks, I'll give it a shot I think. It's for a friend's truck which is really sluggish, I have adjusted the pump as much as it can go if would only cause more smoke if it went anymore, the turbo is turned up so we have come to a conclusion that the turbo just isn't doing its job

It's pretty straightforward once you get into it. I'd never done anything of the sort before but managed to do it myself over a small period of time bit by bit. Such a good feeling when it fires up after being put back together

It's amazing what new rings do for the engine. Mine fires straight up every time I don't even use the glow plugs. At 300k id be pretty damn proud of that engine!

That's gone well..... I think they will probably replace it incase it was faulty but I'm guessing you've got an issue with your front drive train. Personally I dunno where to start.

Non if mine ever had a gasket there. Make sure it's tight. Ive had a leak from the turbo oil feed through a slight hole in the braiding but never from the nut itself

Typical you paul. I find you always get three off easy with the prop tool but there's always one bugger. Did you grind the head down so it's slimmer? Prop tool and 9/16th spanner makes easy work of the prop bolts

if its a disco engine it will be 65 amp, if its genuine defender engine usually 45, unless its been changed by a previous owner. I put a disco 300tdi 100amp on my disco engine and it hasn't set fire yet...

I've got two or three manifolds with duff turbos on Sat in the shed which I keep meaning to take one apart and have a go at swapping the cartridge but wouldn't it need balancing afterwards?
