I should clarify the glencoyne site relates just to ved exemption I think, mot exemption is different, not sure the 1998 rule applies. more than happy to be corrected or updated by anyone more knowledgeable

    Series 3 nil clutchus habemus

never had to do the master before, done the slave a couple of times using either Lockheed or trw, trw seem to last a bit longer. usually buy from dingocroft. might be worth splashing out for genuine lr see if they are worth the extra moolah

    Series 3 nil clutchus habemus

I have a spare slave in the box so I could try replacing that and see if it works, if not do the master. car can be put into gear without engine on

    Series 3 nil clutchus habemus

ok, daughter broke down in the s3 - again - no clutch. Luckily she was only a mile or so from home so we towed her back. Saves waiting a few hours for the breakdown recovery truck. clutch reservoir empty and fluid in the drivers footwell, also a nice puddle where the slave leak usually is when...

unless things have changed modifications carried out prior to the introduction of the new sva test in 1998 don't count afaik. how rigorous the procedure for proving they were done before 1998 is I don't know. http://www.glencoyne.co.uk/vosalaw.htm

just looked it up, conversion to camper would need to be before 1998 and the new sva test, no idea when the 300tdi was introduced but i'm sure it was post '98

bet it is on sorn because he doesn't want to make the not modified statement, leave it for the new buyer then they will have to tax it. Looks ok for a camper conversion but as said, call a spade a spade, it shouldn't be exempt, assuming the conversion was done after that date whenever it is 1998?

Should Series light circuits be ignition switched?

I wired my lights to be ignition on simply to remove the possibility of them being left on by someone, coming back to a flat battery is no fun :D suppose you could get all technical and wire in a lights on alarm

Series 3 does my exhaust look too sooty in this

I think the engine is knackered, an old 2.286 weasel, always been smokey, if it wasn't for exemption I doubt it would pass the emissions test. I have been sticking some of that redex stuff in recently

Nightmare - wrong fuel - advice sought please

I thought putting petrol in a diesel wasn't too bad as petrol will still compress. Put petrol in a diesel cavalier once - 1994 iirc - realised before I had totally filled the tank, so filled the rest with diesel. It ran really rough but the car worked, then just kept topping it up so diluting...

    Old Lany's Wanted

Some outfit was filming an ad in the house over the road from us a while back, they gave me £150 not to park outside my house for the day so they could put one of their trucks there.
