Not "americanised", more like Frenchised or Europised. "Today GMT is considered equivalent to UTC for UK civil purposes (but this is not formalised) and for navigation is considered equivalent to UT1 (the modern form of mean solar time at 0° longitude); these two meanings can differ by up to...

Really? Most of the world uses UTC now, it is more accurate.

    Groaning Freelander

I did have a grumble, rather than a groan in my Freelander. It was still there after I took the VCU off. Checking rear diff, oil level was about 50% with seepage around the pinion. Topped up oil, no different. Stripped diff, carrier bearings were badly worn. Fixed that, with 100% of oil...

There is one each side of the VCU, two in total

They really are a magnificent piece of machinery! No wonder LR sold more of them than all their other fine (and not so fine) products together.:):):)

    Buying Freelander Kiwi Style

No watching this one... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1205464039 Maybe I am getting desperate. MR2 failed the wof (MoT) due to rust damage which I am in the process of welding up. Does this make me an honorary Disco owner?

Yes, dipsticks are a problem. Is that why the Queen has sent no ships to participate in our navy celebrations and to assist at Kaikoura? She is worried about their stability over here. Just as well Japan, Canada, China, Singapore, Australia and USA don't have dipstick issues.

I am very tempting to buy it off the pictures, it must be really good for that price.;);) Drivers seat seems to have an interesting modification on the side bolster.

It must be interesting around Kaikoura today, weather is clear so a bunch of commercial and military helicopters are operating, plus 4 or 5 navy vessels offshore. http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/86553757/kaikoura-evacuation-complete-fears-150metre-landslide-could-fail-releasing-water-debris

Freelander 1.8 petrol, cylinder head bolt tightening sequence and torque setting? Hgf.

They are a nice wee engine, but have two faults (at least in a Freelander). They are about 20% under powered for the weight and size of the vehicle, and they will overheat in seconds if the coolant level falls. 10 seconds later the HG blows and the engine is cooked with the head likely...

Freelander 1.8 petrol, cylinder head bolt tightening sequence and torque setting? Hgf.

Depends on the engine. If it is a very late model one that is designed for 5W30 or even 0W30 then anything heavier is going to cause more oil to bypass via the relief valve and less oil in critical close tolerance bearings.

Kaikoura is going to look like a naval base soon. NZ has two frigates there now, with another one and a tanker on the way. US and Australia are sending two destroyers, Canada, Japan and Singapore have ships on the way as well. One maritime nation appears to be absent! Reason for the Navy...

So far it is a fairly normal after shock sequence, which will likely go on for a year or two. Christchurch is still getting aftershocks from 5 years ago. But thanks for your concern. Actually it may be affecting the Home Country more, as Names may well be called upon.

Woke us in Christchurch, but no physical damage. Anxiety levels up though. Oh and it as 12:03 AM our time, thanks to daylight saving.
