What have you done to your Freelander today

Dealt with, but nothing of use to you, I suspect. Leak was most fresh under the auto box, particularly near the level check plug. Plug was tight, but when I did a level check it was about 500ml over full. Cleaned up the plug and put a new aluminium washer on it, leak has gone. Also IRB rear...

    K series radiators

Have you contacted LRDirect yet? I have had some luck in this sort of situation, with pictures and a good story I have got replacements for the cost of shipping, or a good deal/credit.

    I drive a hippo - no I really drive a hippo.

The driving experience looks rather similar to a Series.

My current V6 Auto is MY01 and it is XEI.

Agree, a TD4 manual would be my ultimate choice.

I know what you mean. I used to think they looked rubbish, now I am sort of looking for one. But that one is way too expensive.

    Engine ECU 1.8 Manual

A MEMS 1.9 that is not intended for a Freelander will not output the ABS speed sensor signal to manage traction control and hill descent.

    Engine ECU 1.8 Manual

Cars intended for the Japan market have no immobiliser so an ECU from such a FL will operate in any vehicle. That condition started before 1998 and continues to this day. No idea why, but the Japanese apparently don't like immobilisers.

What have you done to your Freelander today

First oil change today. Knew it was overfull but.... Out came 7+ litres of blackish gunk. New oil and filter, still going OKish, but next step is to take the inlet manifold off and give it a compression test. IRB is leaking so that needs attention as well.

Freelander 1 Wot's the defination of madness?

Now who would be silly enough to do that 5 times? I have just got number 4.

    ABS reluctor rings

I have twice fixed similar problems at low speed due to the sensor being too far out from the reluctor ring. Check them by using a thin (10 thou) feeler gauge bent round in the gap between the end of the sensor and ring. It should be tight, may even need thinner than 10 thou. If it is loose...

    Freelander 1 extras

I have cunningly disguised it as a washing line as it seems to suit the Freelander better than an ugly rough old winch. Wait until you see my snorkel conversion!

    Freelander 1 And Again....

Absolutely and completely not required. Took it for quite a run this morning, only problem is that it seems a bit sluggish. I suspect the inlet manifold VIS is clogged up or one of the VIS motors is stuck - they get clogged up with muck from the crankcase vent system over time. Later today I...
