    From Zero to Two...

The conversion has been done on here recently by a guy using the 1.8T engine loom that came with the engine from the Rover 75, this caused quite a few headaches and ended up with running aftermarket engine management but its up and running now and i'm impressed with the videos he's put up of it...

    From Zero to Two...

Even though its a mems 1.9 3dr i'm still set on running a 1.8 Turbo engine in it using a Freelander 1.8 loom and ecu from a later MEMS 3. It seems relatively easy to fit a MEMS 3 engine, ECU and Loom in a MEMS 1.9 hippo. The Rover/MG owners have done this on countless occasions now so i don't...

    From Zero to Two...

I've been up to get the green 5dr Freelander sorted ready to be moved back to my house, that will be here Wednesday. But on Tuesday i take delivery of a blue 3dr. Both 1.8 petrol and both on MEMS 1.9. The plan initially is to strip the green one (CAT C) for anything the 3dr needs including...

    :D :D :D :D What sort of cost?

What've you done to your insides?

Black looks soooooo much nicer. I can see me turning everything black. Could use the older freelander to strip and spray the interior plastics, then fit them to the newer freelander when they're all ready (both pre facelift). I think black dash, doorcard and seats look loads better, plastidip &...

What've you done to your insides?

Not 100% yet. The options are- Upgrade the dash (which I haven't looked into the complexities of yet so may be a no go). Fit a flip up head unit that has video input and output feeds for cameras/ monitors. Fit a head unit that has enough video outputs to run a master screen and 2 monitors...

What've you done to your insides?

I was getting excited when I saw cruise control, until I noticed the pen and realised you couldn't have the 1.8. The sale hasn't gone through yet simply due to logistics. But this- It's a 1.8 k series on a mems 3 ecu and will be used for a 1.8 turbo conversion. Already have a green 1.8...

What've you done to your insides?

I'm picking up my freelander project tomorrow. Externally it'll stay looking pretty standard, just with the addition of a black nudge bar and black grills for the headlights, might even add a 2" lift at some point with a/t tyres. As for inside the freelander, its use will be a full on 2...

may not be popular... lowering a FL1

I get it completely. In a nutshell a freelander is a big Rover, and having owned many Rovers being an enthusiast, a hippo is an obvious choice for a large family vehicle regardless of its off road capabilities. My missus loves Land Rovers, I love Rovers, a hippo is a good middle ground. I've...

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

Ah right. I intend on retaining the nasp loom already in the freelander. My theory being that without the intercooler and turbo it's pretty much just a mems 3 1.8k engine (dismissing pistons/ comp. Ratio etc) so my hunch says if I dropped the 1.8t engine on using the nasp loom, it should at...

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

If you don't mind me asking. Which loom did you use, what we're the differences between the nasp loom and the new one? Did you try fitting the 1.8t engine to the nasp loom? Going to look through your post on this again now lol.

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

If I was to retain the standard mems 3 loom and, just change the engine to the 1.8t, How would this affect the canbus? I assumed by keeping the loom and ecu I would have to run a controller for boost get the ecu mappeto suit but how does this change the way the canbus works?

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

I know a mems 3 stepspeed ecu from rovers can be programmed to run boost, maybe it's possible to use that, otherwise it'd be a turbo map on the standard ecu with M/boost cont. The one thing I'm not brilliant on is wiring diagrams but I can't imagine it'd be too hard to get the engine up and...

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

Yeah, I'd be using a freelander mems 3 loom and ecu with the 1.8t engine. To try and make things sound easier, my 2 options are- 1. With the T reg mems 1.9 Freelander, fit the 1.8t engine using a mems 3 engine wiring harness and mems 3 ecu. 2. Fit the 1.8t into the Y reg mems 3 freelander...

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

Possibly yes, the Missus has a T reg mems 1.9 freelander which needs a Vic inspection, plus a whole new interior, suspension etc but she loves the colour (green) lol. Then this Y ref has come up on mems 3 for silly cheap money with a gearbox issue and a couple of other niggles. This will...

    Difference between mems 1.9 & mems 3 FL1???

Having planned to do a 1.8t conversion to a mems 1.9 freelander, a mems 3 freelander has come up at a good price on a Y reg so it's an early mems 3 example. Besides the obvious engine wiring harnesses and connected sensors. Is there any other difference to the hippos wiring loom or could you...

DD and I are going to have a stab at a Toyota engine Hippo. Any inupt would be cool.

This could sound like a noob question, the 1.8 hippo hits around 102mph, the 75 1.8t gets up to 130. The Derv hippo reaches a tad under 100mph which the box will come from. How would you go about working out what rpm @ 'x'mph or theoretical top speed is using an L series PG1 with the v6 ird on a...

DD and I are going to have a stab at a Toyota engine Hippo. Any inupt would be cool.

What rpm does the 1.8 box give at 70 compared to using the Derv box. Surely for the long distance journeys the final drive will help with economy, and being uprated will help manage the torque. I pick my Mems 1.9 Hippo up next week and bring it home, it'll be a slow and steady project but just...

DD and I are going to have a stab at a Toyota engine Hippo. Any inupt would be cool.

So am I right in thinking that the FL1 Derv 'box would mate up to a 1.8 turbo conversion? I'm reading the above as- the FL1 Derv pg1 mounts to any k series, rather than being able to mount to the Rover T series. So would allow the use of a 'u' spec box with lower final drive on a K turbo...
