Hi all, Quick update. I replaced the thermostat with a genuine part this morning, I also ran the hose pipe through heater matrix as stated above (was just clear coolant coming out, no sludge etc) Ran the car up after and I have now have heat!! It's 100% better. Thanks all for your help with this.

Thanks for the additional replies. I have ordered a genuine thermostat today (figured is maybe the cheapest option and worth replacing for peace of mind anyway). As for the heater hoses, from memory both were just as hot as each other. I will get the engine up to temp tomorrow and recheck...

Sounds like a steering box issue to me, do you know if the one you have lying around is good? Before you change it again I would just quickly check the steering dampers to make sure they are ok.

Hi, As said above the oil leak looks minimal so I wouldn't be worried about that. If it does get bad it is a really simple and cheap fix. As with the other replys I would advise taking a good look around the boot floor,sills, front and rear arches for corrosion and chassis. If they look bad...

Quick update to this, i repaired the heatshield and after a long 3 hour drive towing I have had no issues starting the car so looks like the cause of my problems was down to the heatshield Hope this may help others Thanks for your help
