Are Avon ranger still the best tyes for a disco I or am I out of date?

Insa Turbo's are a useful less expensive solution, but they are not in the same league as BFG or GG in terms of grip and longevity. Dave

    Insurance Advice

Everything in life is negotiable. A few years ago I had a Honda VFR 750, 6 weeks old and it was knicked and trashed. Initially I was offered £6500 as a full payout, but I refused and was able to prove that, at that time, a 6 week old VFR was worth £7500 so after a number telephone calls I...

Are you sure it's a D3 - because D3's don't have ACE. @ Benneboy - if you look here you will see rear shocks for with and without ACE vehicles: Land Rover Discovery 2 Rear Shock Absorbers | Paddock Dave

Well I would recommend you look at, starting from the top of the tree: 1. BF Goodrich AT 2. General Grabber AT² or AT 3. ???????????????????????

    Window problem

Well I don't know about the MG but I can tell you that you can buy a new regulator for your vehicle for about £15 and it's an easy job to do yourself. LR006373 | Front Window Regulator RH Dave

    Auto box fault

I would be putting the battery on charge overnight - give it a good 12hrs; then let it rest for one hour. Now measure the voltage across the battery poles - it should be 12.6volts or more. Re-install the battery and during cranking of the engine measure the voltage again and report back. This...

    Window problem

There's every chance that the window regulator (lifter mechanism) has gone. Paddocks supply them for about £25. Easy enough job to do, just make sure you have some good duct tape to hold the glass up, while you are working. Dave

Does this sound like a fuel lift pump issue ?

All the ones I've done on TDi 200 and 300 had 2 metal pipes going to the pump for flow return. Just had another look and I can't see the other connection. ???? Anyway, maybe it's just the picture, so something (pipe, rubber or metal) appears to have come off that inlet, so you need to find it.

    What headlights

Why don't you change them for new, same style ones? STC765 | Headlamp RH - RHD to LA081991 or you could modernise a little and go for TDi 300/TD5 lights, but that requires metalwork and indicator changes as well. STC1233 | Headlamp RH - RHD from MA081992 XBC105120 | Headlamp RH -...

Tyres General AT2 v Kumho Road Venture MT and sizes

Hi Colin GG AT²'s are an excellent tyre, I've used them several times. 235/70/16 is the alternative std. size, so all will be good. Dave

    Lovely jubbly

Mine's a manual gearbox car, been re-mapped, so I drive her between 1500 and 3000rpm. To be honest I've never felt the need to go any higher. I just can't imagine why anyone would want to rev a TD5 that high, I find driving on the torque (max torque at 1800rpm in std. trim) to be very...

Mechanical problems in Morrocco - HELP!

I would NEVER re-use oils. Bear in mind all you need is very std. EP80w-90 for diffs and tranny box plus MTF or Dexron atf; all of which will be readily available.

Mechanical problems in Morrocco - HELP!

@ Vince - The main gearbox (R380) can and does run on MTF94 but it can also run on Dexron IID or Dexron III, auto transmission fluid which is much more widely available. @ EDoubleD - I did that run you are currently doing, down the eastern side of Morrocco, then across the south to the Atlantic...

    ATF swap

It depends on usage. If it's just on-road work that's one thing, if it's heavy, frequent off-roading that's entirely another.
