    Press size

I have done the work that you mention on a 95 Disco 1 and had access to a 10 ton press. It took all of the pressure and some heat to shift some of the radius arm bushes. In regard to the A frame ball joint, I could not get the ball joint out of the carrier or the two through bolts out of the...

    Full brake replacement

Paddocks list repair kits for the master cylinder from £39.50 but new cylinders are listed from £62.50. Probably not worth the hassle if you can afford the new cylinder. There are various options on non-ABS and ABS systems so best to ring and check exactly which one is suitable for your vehicle...

    Full brake replacement

The leaks will be internal and cause a loss of pressure into the brake lines. I would rebuild or replace the master cylinder and check the servo operation before replacing anything else. A loss of pressure in the lines or calipers would result in a visible leak of fluid.

    Full brake replacement

Sounds more like a faulty master cylinder if the pedal keeps sinking.

boot seat belt anchorage torx size?

In my limited experience, the bolts will not come undone if you are talking about the ones through the boot floor. Mini grinder was the only thing that worked for me and then replacing the long eye bolt, clevis and bracket. Everything was rusted solid. Cost about £40 to do both sides from memory.

    steering box

I looked around when sourcing one for my D1 and eventually went with Paddocks. The box comes well packaged with everything you need to return the old unit. There is a fee of £12 + VAT for the return carriage though which isn't very clear on their website; this amount is deducted form the refund...

    D1 front windscreen replacement,RRC?Td5?

It doesn't make any difference which urethane that you use, whether it's Sikaflex, Dow or any other make, it will not stick to the bare unprinted glass from an RRC.

    D1 front windscreen replacement,RRC?Td5?

RRC is fitted in rubber and fairly easy to remove but D1 id direct glazed (bonded) and needs to be installed correctly with primers etc. The RRC screen does not have the black ceramic band which isn't there to make it look nice; it protects the urethane against degradation by UV light. On top...

    A frame balljoint nut removal

I used a 30mm impact socket bought from Halfords. A good few mm shorter than a standard socket and waisted towards the square drive end; made all the difference to getting it into the available space.

    Top class cracked

This isn't uncommon on Discovery 3 models. We probably replace at least one per month. Laminated 'panoramic' roofs are a great selling point but they are prone to breakage and invariably are a lot more work to replace than a windscreen. It's laminated glass so there is no risk of it falling...

    Boot floor - nice surprise!

All back together now without too much trouble and nothing left over at the end. The fuel filter and piping was changed whilst the floor was up to make it easier to change the filter in the future as well. Just the serpentine belt tensioner to fit and then replace the power steering pump...

    run into a problem

Surely if he has taken the flange off by undoing the centre nut, all of the preload will have been removed from the pinion bearings, so it will float around? Replace the seal and flange, tighten the nut to the correct torque and that should remove the play, or am I missing something?

    Boot floor - nice surprise!

Used YRM for the side repair strips and the boot support strips. Amazingly quick service and good quality parts. Now to glue it all together again!

Will do. Thanks for the heads up.

    Boot floor - nice surprise!

Sorted the fuel line problem with some unions and proper rubber fuel hose from Merlin Motorsport which will make changing the filter much easier in future. Unfortunately the floor side support lips are too far gone and will need repair panels welding in, probably the ones available from Foundry...

    Boot floor - nice surprise!

Thanks for the reply. I think the sedimenter is only on diesel versions; the V8 has a simple filter attached to the offside rear chassis leg in the wheelarch. It's ideally placed to pick up all the salt, mud and corrosion so that it will not come undone. I am going to take it one step at a time...

    Boot floor - nice surprise!

Progress report. Old boot floor removed with the aid of a Machine Mart spot weld drill kit; £20 well spent. minimal damage to the remaining metal and cut the job down to less than two hours. Seat belt bolts were well and truly seized, so new toggles, clevis pins and eyes ordered. On first...

    Boot floor - nice surprise!

I have had my 95 V8 for eighteen months, gradually working my way through brakes, suspension, engine rough running, endless water leaks, immobiliser etc, all the usual stuff. I knew early on that the boot floor was in a poor state and that the sound proofing and carpet were soaking wet. Both...

    t box oil seals

There's a breather on top of the box which, if blocked, will potentially cause oil to pass the output flange seal. Mine leaked onto the handbrake shoes; when I looked for the cause, I found that the breather was blocked. Replaced seal and cleared breather; no further problems.
