What did you do with your Range Rover today

Well, not today but some time ago:

"Upgrading" engine by fitting later manifolds?

The plan is to stick with the LT95, which on theory supports a Isuzu 3.5 turbo diesel. Well, we'll see what a new timing chain and gears and the new cam shaft do first anyway. But no, I don't want any slipped liners! It's an offroad car and not build for racing!

"Upgrading" engine by fitting later manifolds?

That sounds interesting! More power is always a good thing, and I have no interest in reboring an otherwise perfectly fine engine block!

    Hunting the noise

Obviously it's the box that is sturdy, and I guess Bix as well! Bratwurstfingers are very serious condition I cannot get rid of, unfortunately...

    Hunting the noise

Yeah, I like the LT95 as well! Diff lock works at all soeeds, the bix is turdy, accepts engine oil... And the noise at high speeds and the missing 5th hear are solveable. I'm just a tad worried about long term parts availability... Well, worst case one has to have the parts manufactured himself...

    Hunting the noise

That stuff makes me seriously reconsider my olan to fit the overdrive. One day the gearbox will need a rebuild, today that means a death sentence. LT77 and R380 (that the right combo?) are comparatively cheap, even rebuild without an exchange unit. Would need some tranission tunnel work, but at...

May I introduce RollsRoyce, the new family 1982 RRC

Noe, I think it's tike again for an uodate. Readong through the thread, I realized something: I'm lazy and slow working on her when she actually doesn't have any issues. Examples include the break hoses (since 2020!), the carpets (same year)... I could go on... Well, I took her and my dad for a...

Show me your RRC on 235/85R16

The one in my profile is running 235/85R16 MTs on, I think, Disco 1 rims. Drives and handles just fine!

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today, the old lady returned us, successfully and under her own power, to Tunis. That was quite an adventure, short version she left the desert in better shape than she entered it. Which says something about my bush mechanic skills and their lack of usage in our drive way. Once I have some more...

Its me thats poorly this time

Hey Rubberknees, all the best then! Have to agree, risking a fatal heart attack to increase the odds a little bit isn't worth it. Fingers crossed everything works out good!

Keeping my v8 at the right temp

One thing that helps as well as fitting an oil cooler. Mine has one, and worked quite well, even at 45 degrees ambient and some heavy work she never overheated. Well, the engine, the carbs are a different story.

    INTANK OR EXTERNAL FUEL PUMP

Can second what Hairball said with regards to the second filter, note to myself: add one as well. Mine, 82 RRC on dual Zenith carbs, has the external pump mounted on the left front inner wing. LHD, so it sits directly under the brake cylinder. This way she's out of the mud, and water and other...

3.5 V8 on carbs loosing all power at 2k rpm when hot, 3k when not

I have to check that... She's running for now, no idea why but I wont challenge her on that!

3.5 V8 on carbs loosing all power at 2k rpm when hot, 3k when not

    THAT would explain a lot...

3.5 V8 on carbs loosing all power at 2k rpm when hot, 3k when not

Earth problem, I think so... This damn facet pump also has all of one wire, which goes to the relay of this very interesting transistor ignition someone ripped out of a Jag XK8. Other than that the pump is screwed to the chassis, same front inner wing the battery earth attached to. The pump...

3.5 V8 on carbs loosing all power at 2k rpm when hot, 3k when not

Oh, and I'll replace the fuel return line. She has two bents that are new.

3.5 V8 on carbs loosing all power at 2k rpm when hot, 3k when not

So, we made it out of the desert, alive and not on tue back of a recover truck, we did some very mild offroading today. What is realized: The engine is comparatively cool, the carbs almost melted the snorkel tube. First thing I did was getting rid of the snorkel, that did wonders! I hit 6k rpm...

3.5 V8 on carbs loosing all power at 2k rpm when hot, 3k when not

Well, this seems to be a theme at the moment... My problem is the following: I took the old lady to Tunesia, already on her way down she had issues when hittin 2-3 k rpm when hot, e.g. stop and go traffic in plain sunlight. That usually went away when the arbs got enough air flow to cool down...
