Early pre defender 110's are actually a little cheaper than Series vehicles at the moment and come with better steering lock, power steering if you are lucky and a slightly better ride. They still leak though so you feel like you are driving a real Land Rover though.

When I put a Ford 2.8 into a SWB S3 I fitted the 3"wide drums from a Stage 1 V8. With decent rubber I could get it to actually do a "Stoppie" and lift the rear wheels a couple of foot in the air! Was rather painful when the rear came back down mind.

Be warned a series 109 can be a right handful in a busy car park, or even parallel parking on the roadside. I have even found that I can't get out of a local Morrison's petrol station without doing a shunt which is fine as long as the merc sprinter behind you is not too close and ready for you...

Oh ok, maybe just a two part wheel riveted together. Certainly any two part wheel needs an inner tube as it wont hold air. As far as the welded rims are concerned, the main issue with going from inner tubes to tubeless is the size of the hole for the valve. Tubed type have a much bigger hole...

Sounds like one of your wheels is an old fashioned split rim. Think the military used them at one stage. The idea being that you undo the bots holding the two halves of the wheel together and separate them making tyre changing a doddle. The reality I found was that they seem to get stuck...

That was pretty much my reason for buying it. I guess in a few years I will be used to it and all the jobs that you do on them!

The 90 is my first foray into "modern" stuff (Even though it is 30 years old), I do sometimes think about selling it and going back to series stuff that I know so well!

It's a pre defender 90 with a 300Tdi Relays are ok, they make a click when they operate, microchips on the other hand are wizardry!

Just seen them on Ebay for £250, at that price I hope you have them fixed on with anti tamper screws! (Those of you who have them that is!)
