As the block has already been refurbished, along with new pistons and conrod bushes, shells etc, I won't be pursuing this course of action. I'll negotiate with the seller, who I am certain will be quite positive about my offer, on the basis that I know something they don't know I know ;)

Had the engine a few months; bought it untested as I thought I could trust the seller...

So the head is cooked beyond skimmable range as well - guess I'll be getting a new one of those too then! Will certainly be having words with the seller...

Yes, I got those pistons; I think they sell aftermarket ones as well, but like you, I'm keen to stick to LR parts where the quality is vital. When I accidentally ordered too much, they phoned me up to let me know of my mistake, amended the order, and refunded the money straight away - excellent...

The block has been inspected; he reckons we may be able to remove the (exceptionally shallow) scores by honing alone. If not, then all four will need boring and honing etc.

The bulkhead is in for repair - I've asked for it to be sorted by the end of the month as I'd like to get some paint on it and installed so that progress elsewhere can be achieved. Worth mentioning that the repair panels from yrm are spot on; I've got the outer panels for the seatbox too, so...

@jamesmartin - is re-lining #4 and replacing #4 piston a sensible option? Seems that this should be considerably cheaper than full re-bore, hone, 4x new pistons etc...

It doesn't look like the photos I tried to upload in my last couple of posts were actually attached; not that I can remember what they were photos of... Progress has been rather slow of late unfortunately. The bulkhead has been shotblasted and will be repaired accordingly; it needs full vent...
