Exactly. If I needed reliability I would not consider a P38. This will be an occasional drive/tow cow for me as my car will remain my daily drive & I have a van I use for work. TBH I think that unfortunately the OP has made a poor choice. BTW I am still looking :)

He was asking £1,000 but has now said he will take £700. I still think that that is to much as you have no idea what faults there are without the dash display working. When he says it drives fine I think it has only been driven around his yard.

The seller has got back in touch & says it is not the dimmer switch the dash is just completely blank ? He reckons it is "just damp" He says it starts & runs fine on both petrol & lpg & other than the blank dash the only thing he knows is wrong with it is one of the back exhaust boxes is broke...

What HP are the Thor engined 4.6"s ? I thought that they were 282hp but I am seeing some listed as 215hp ?

I have previously owned a 200 & 300 TDI Disco what is the 2.5 DSE performance like compared to them ? They were both pretty sluggish. I can't remember the hp or torque they had.

What sort of horse power can the above be tuned/ chipped to produce. I believe standard the hp is 138 ? I would be looking for slightly less sluggish performance especially towing.

The seller has just messaged me after 2 days & said "the back exhaust box is broken & nothing on the dash works" ? To me it is a "project" vehicle then & as such is way to dear even at well under the £1,000 asking price.

Well the seller was very quick to respond to my questions yesterday morning (in fact instantly) until I asked were there any warning lights or warning messages showing. Since then silence so I guess that is the answer in itself :rolleyes:

No it is on air suspension & seller says it goes up & down as it should. I know it is not worth £1,000 but wondered if it may be worth £500 as everything I have seen so far, although having an MOT, has needed work. I suppose the only real way to know would be to see what it would fail an MOT on...
