    East Sussex calling

Hi mate, welcome! I'm in Hastings but I've been Laning round Crowborough a couple of times. A few of us have met up a couple of times and had Laning days out in Surrey hills but that was a while ago. Various other commitments mean I don't get as much lane time as I'd like and trying to get a few...

    quick gearbox question

Thanks all, seems like theres a general consensus there! Didn't get round to it in the end, somehow I found myself with a couple of takeaway pints from the 'jolly fisherman' and nothing very productive got done after that!

    quick gearbox question

I just want to warm it up a bit to do an oil change really, it's a job I've been meaning to do for a while, I could take it out for a run but it means shuffling cars around so the cretins who live opposite don't block my drive!

    quick gearbox question

If the transfer box is in neutral and the gearbox is in gear, the gears will be turning but not the wheels and so the oil in the gearbox will start to warm up with the vehicle stationary, is that correct?

    Bosch VE pump technical question

Well I didn't have much luck (and I also realised it's not my first 'what thread is X part' post on here and prob won't be the last) so I bought a thread gauge and a Vernier caliper. The Answer is M17x1.0, so it's here if anyone else ever needs to know! I've ordered the corresponding tap so I'll...

    Bosch VE pump technical question

Thanks all, I'll try the fitters first and if not I'll have a look for the dieselbob thread. Yeah seemed like maybe m17/M18ish but with a <1mm pitch, quite an odd size no doubt!

    Bosch VE pump technical question

    Yeah that's the one

    Bosch VE pump technical question

There is a lorry fitters about half an hour away I've done a bit of electrical work for, I might give them a ring and see if they've got anything.

    Bosch VE pump technical question

Yeah I thought I might be, there are a few threads in various forums with people asking how to free up a stuck one but not much after that, I can confirm however, the answer to 'how do I free up my siezed star wheel?' is not 'give it a few light taps with a hammer and drift!'

    Bosch VE pump technical question

Not as far as I know, what were you going to suggest?

    Bosch VE pump technical question

This should be a test to see who knows their fuel pump trivia! On the Bosch VE pump the LDA boost adjuster aka the 'star wheel' is threaded on, the replacement does not come pre threaded, I assume it should self thread as it's screwed on, however obviously it will require some force to do so...

    Lanes on Saturday?

No worries, we're talking about getting out again sometime of the Xmas period too so I'll keep you posted

Full EV Landy.... Its the future!

This is quite interesting, I'm not going to weigh in on the pros and cons of EVs as I think it's been demonstrated above that you can twist the facts to suit your viewpoint either way. EVs are here to stay though, at least for the foreseeable, although I'd agree they are a stopgap until hydrogen...

    Lanes on Saturday?

Short notice I know but anyone fancy some lanes on Sat? Was planning on exploring north downs around Maidstone but I'd settle for Surrey or Hampshire too. @dieseldog69 or @flat either of you guys free and up for a trip out?

    seized star wheel

Honestly I was just tinkering, I have got a boost pin but not yet fitted, ultimately I'd like to tweek the pump, I'm not worried about it going like a rocket but it would be nice if it was running optimally. What is the purpose of the nylon ring, does it need to stay or be taken out? Well its...

    seized star wheel

Having not really driven my 300tdi in almost 18 months it would seem it's MOT time tomorrow, last year it failed on excessive smoke (had only just had fresh oil and new filters) we managed through a combination of injector cleaner additive, fiddling with the pump and getting it nice and hot to...

Rear wheel jammed after replacing bearing

The less said about that the better!!

Rear wheel jammed after replacing bearing

Thanks all, yes as advised it was a stake nut issue, swapped for the old locknut and now rotating fine.

Rear wheel jammed after replacing bearing

Yes the other wheel rotates fine as normal. I think you might be right @tottot on google imaging "stake nut" that's def what it looks like- I knew that there was an alternative known as a 'stake nut' but I always thought a stake nut was one of those nuts with a slotted flange to use with a split...
