    200TDI Oil pressure

Thanks for your reply. Mine continues to drop the more I drive it which is what is worrying me. Did have the oil light flash at idle after about 3 hours greenlaning after rebuilding my engine, but at the time I didn't have the pressure gauge. I just want to make sure it's right so I can always...

    200TDI Oil pressure

Thanks for that,if I'm understanding that correctly the oil is fed into the vacuum pump for the vanes. If the vacuum pump was damaged internally could it drop the pressure inside? Sorry about all the questions, trying to avoid having to strip it completely again.

    200TDI Oil pressure

Hi,just checked the bush ,is a good fit. Not sure where to go now. Going to order a new bearing for the skew gear as that's knackered whatever. The o ring in the skew gear seems to fit on the vaccum pump alright, although it's hard to tell without it in the skew gear groove.

    200TDI Oil pressure

Hi, thanks, I believe I've sent a message. Thinking I might remove the bush that holds the skew gear and check the fit on the shaft. Otherwise, looks like the engine might be coming out. Thanks

Hi, I'm looking at a low oil pressure on my Defender 200TDi and was directed to you. After looking at the o ring on the skew gear,I found the bearing is shot. I replaced this when I rebuilt the engine last Christmas. Have you ever seen this bearing wear? Thanks

    200TDI Oil pressure

Just had the vacuum pump out and skew gear. The o-ring looks alright but hard to tell whether it is sealing on the vaccum pump shaft. The bearing on the skew gear is shot, even though I replaced it when I did the engine. Could this be causing an issue? Thanks

    200TDI Oil pressure

I replaced both o-rings when I rebuilt it, but seem to remember that one of them didn't fit that well. Could the oil be leaking past this when hot and sealing when cold?

Thanks for the suggestions, Would it cause any damage to use 20w 50? I've got some of that already. Thanks

    200TDI Oil pressure

It never drinks a drop of oil, prefers to leak it all over the drive. Had the cam bearings changed when I did the engine so hoping it isn't them. Would have thought it has be related to either temperature and the oil viscosity otherwise I'd never get the 4.5 bar at idle. It might have had this...

Thanks for replying Ive ordered some ,but the post is being slow so not sure when it'll arrive. Just looking for anything else that could be causing the problem before I have to go back to work. Thanks

    200TDI Oil pressure

Just been out for another run, the pressure started out as normal at 4.5- 5 bar. After 30mins, the pressure was at 1 bar at idle, but even with revs wouldn't go beyond 2.5 bar. I haven't got a oil temperature gauge, but a heat gun pointed at the various oil lines were all around 75.c,so no problem...

    200TDI Oil pressure

Just checked the oil thermostat this morning, started opening at 70.c,fully by 90 so that's fine. Had a single washer in there along with the spring.

    200TDI Oil pressure

I got the cylinders honed, new mains and big ends, cam bearing replaced and bored and rebuilt my oil pump with turner gears and release plunger. I see what you mean by the fibreglass shield, mine had the bracket but it never had anything attached to it. I'll check out the thermostat post on the...

    200TDI Oil pressure

Getting on for a 800 miles now. I did use a running in oil to start with, then switched to 10w40. However, wasn't till around when I changed to standard oil did I fit an oil pressure gauge, and that always read fine.Found out later that gauge was not reading properly though. Sorry if this doesn't...

    200TDI Oil pressure

Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure what you mean by the fibreglass heat shield, the castings on mine are open to the air.Sounds like I'm missing something. Pretty sure I had mineral in there before, I got the semi synth as it was recommended. I've also tried 10w40 and changed to 15w40 but it...

    200TDI Oil pressure

Just thinking, my Turbo is a bit tighter than it should be,so could it be that it is overheating the oil and thinning it? Probably not but Its just something I thought of. Thanks

    200TDI Oil pressure

Hi, Wondered if someone would be able to put my mind at ease. I rebuilt the 200tdi in my defender around last Christmas, all bearings and bushes replaced and a new oil pump. I've just got round to getting an oil pressure gauge that I know is reading correctly, but the figures don't match the...

    Chassis Supplier

I got a Richards chassis about 3 years ago, that came out at about £2100 for the 90 one and the gearbox crossmember. Can't fault the chassis at all, everything fitted perfectly and they delivered it on time. When I got mine Richards were using steel thicker than standard.
