no petrol to plugs 1996 4.6 gems.

Me bad. Let me check mine later. Rv8 do fire in really quick. It's one of those tests that checks out the crank sensor if it doesn't start and shows 200 or not. Sorry for the bs!

P38A Upgrading front airbags with arnott gen 3 ... ? Anybody done this

I've got gen 2s allround. As above a bit better but beam axles aren't the best riders tbh. Gen 3s aren't going to keep me awake at night dreaming what may have been. I have got s#$tpart cellular Dynamics and i really like them. ( Brought secondhand). Mines far to quick for it's handling anyway...

    P38A Got's me some ticking....

Is it loosing water? Little end bearing?piston skirt slap? The lack of acceleration suggests valve/ cam. Interesting double click there mate. I have a new 4.6 cam if your interested.

P38A Put my dummy back in

Definitely split the engine and box. This definitely can be done on the drive with no serious lifting equipment.(just an engine hoist). I reckon taking the engine and box out would require very serious lifting tackle and would be really awkward.

    P38A Calling it quits

Duncan it took me ages to get the beggar back in and i really feel your frustration. I only really brought it to a finish because I'm extremely pig headed.(and I'd spent a few hundred on bearings gaskets and machining!) What point is it at now? Did you manage to remove any bell housing bolts...

    P38A Help needed.

I didn't do that. I removed the heads to access top bolts. You will have to remove the flexplate bolts. Remember how they go back. When you get to the lift out stage you will think it's stuck just persevere cos it will come eventually. Lever knock check All the bolts are out. Try again. The bell...

    P38A Settle an argument.

If it's your first stripdown .only engine out and engine back. Three days. Preferably with some rest between out and in!. You'll find the big issue is sussing out the small bits. This can really put the brakes on. Also you can't possibly know the way to do stuff or even put it back in the same...

    1998 p38 scanner

They are great but I'm guessing blackbox are a small company miles away in Cyprus. There business model is what it is. But there is a huge potential market. It is priced for the enthusiast atm. Bit like mark Adams chips but with a massive potential market.

    P38A Drag link disaster

Hope that's it mate. Just to say the drag link length alters the tracking. So any change between old and new results in change of tracking. The chances of getting the old and new the same length are pretty slim I reckon.

    Other Classic Vs P38

Damn the back of the metro can is pure p38. Which came first? The bonnet slopes off alarmingly though so no room for a v8. One thing that separates the metro from the p38..........reliability. ours are much less reliable.

    Other Classic Vs P38

I don't want to ruffle feathers but the classics a bit of a fugly beast to my eyes. A nice ones still a nice one but... P38 not really gorgeous more modern though. I prefer the p38 but I really like the things people have done with classics over the years. Handling don't know I've never driven a...

    P38 V8 advice

He will put mot on when he sells. Rare colour means zilch. To me many colours are very dated looking but if a.you like it and a.you like it that's all that matters. Reds blues champagne bad. Black green silver better .

    P38 V8 advice

Rereading the top hat bits probably a bit Ott.! The main thing to take away is caveat emptor. 2600 is ok if it's got no big issues on the horizon and it's a Thor.

    P38 V8 advice

That's a gems. That's quite expensive unless it's mint. I consider less is more at this age. No sat nav.tick. no lpg. Tick. No daft accessories( ps1 videos etc) .tick. air conditioning working.tick. I wouldn't want a 4l as 4.6 are usually better spec. 100000 m is not really low mileage.ie 100000...
