Disco 1 Bleeding injector fuel lines

If you get a lot of air in, I've found that slackening off the return line on the back of the pump and letting it push air out there speeds it up a lot. Nip up that union and then do the injectors as you say. I've got 300's to start like that with totally knackered lift pumps.

Electric issues + clueless girl. Help!

Seconded. Paid for on a credit card in whole or part? You can make it the card company problem as well. Any service has to be up to acceptable standard and fixing a car is a service.

Freelander 1 Tracking problems: need new track rod ends?

Id not even try and release them as noted above. Buy new ones, and slap them with shed loads of copperslip for next time they need adjusting!

Check the lift pump. They are a bit of problem on 300's the engine works fine with a bust one until you get air in the system when you change the fuel filter...

That fuel bleed back to the tank is probably necessary though! Not all the fuel that goes to the pump is burnt - it's used for cooling injectors and lubrication too. If you have done the spill pipes next to check is that the lift pump is running. Turn the engine until you can feel resistance to...

Land Rover Defender 110 brakes not working

OK as others have said the cap is the yellow one in front of the flat drum which is the brake booster. Most cars have the critical caps in yellow - brake fluid, engine oil, engine filler etc. You do not want any oil in there at all. Engine oil will kill the braking system dead - even a few...

Land Rover Defender 110 brakes not working

You have access I am sure to the wonders of Youtube.... if you look on there for someone called "Landrover toolbox videos" he has lots of informative videos showing you how to fix more or less anything. Lets of stuff about brakes - have a look and see because pictures are much easier to...

    Rev counter - alternator

The alternator pulley changed in size around the 1996 model years - that means that the binnacle comes in two versions as the pulse rate changes so the tachometer has to be matched to the alternator. If you swap the pulley from large to small to get better charging for example, your revs as show...

    Rev counter - alternator

The W terminal takes a pulse direct from one of the coil windings. If the alternator was faulty I would expect nothing to be shown at all. There will be a frequency to voltage convertor in the instrument binnacle and I expect thats where the problem actually lies. To diagnose it further though...

That's about the time period I was looking at. Have you got the morocco overland book yet - some really good reading in it.

    Rev counter - alternator

If you pull the sensor wire off the W terminal so it's not connected to anything what does the tachometer say?

Has anyone seen/got a decent roof tent?

They were on my look at list as well - I wasn't entirely sold with the non awning style as I wanted a nice place to stand up in to change, cook etc. I have to say though most of the tents follow the same design - it's all down to the quality of the materials used and the durability I think. The...

Has anyone seen/got a decent roof tent?

I have a Howling Moon 1.4 with the annexe. It's very nice, and very expensive. I bought it secondhand though with almost no use at all so I got a good bargain. Before the bargain came up I was looking at a Tuff-trek TT-02 http://tuff-trek.com/soft-top-tents.html again with the annexe. These...

    Disco 1 Axle breathers

Apologies if teaching suck eggs etc but... Not a huge amount. A 1/2" extension rod and ratchet will suffice. I've never looked for the official figure truth be told - about 20-25Nm is what mine get. The banjos on the top get less - they are not strong, a bit more than finger tight really is...
