    they tend to fail lower down also where the wire crosses the top of the gearbox due to heat Be worth ruling out the wiring before delving deeper, if that dont cure it you could be looking at a duff injector

    re the miss fire has it had the fuel pressure sensor wiring tsb done? mine kangerood all over the shop till I changed the sensor and harness ? There's a sticky on the TSB in the FL section with the date from when I did it...

    looks like sealant too me I used to use the yellow stuff to seal up rocker covers on citroen vans where they don't have a rubber gasket, complete and utter plum if they did

    cant you hacksaw off the old filter from the old mount then re use it?

    it could also be that the thread is too long for the filter so when you nip it up your not nipping it up against the seal but on the end of the thread leaving the seal loose, have the filter off and see if there is any obstructions or sign the thread has bottomed out in the filter

    I've had that before an an old mondeo where the thread the filter spins on to was loose on in the housing so had to be tweaked up with 2 large nuts screwed on to the thread so they locked together then turned the outer most one to tighten the thread.without damaging it
