Okay folks, Going to throw a big stone in the pond here....TD4 dual mass flywheel and possible looming clutch replacement...... Anyone got any thoughts on doing a single mass flywheel conversion?? Was thinking of a DMF replacement at the same time as the clutch job....but noticed a...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Removed my VCU and bearings, got the genuine bearings(they have been fitted to the VCU) faffed around separating the prop shafts..destroyed the front UJ in the process despite following the procedure mentioned on here....daughters car passed MOT on Friday, she picks it up today..it's still in...

What have you done to your Freelander today

As far as I can see there is no need for an 'initial' MOT test but you must apply for the tax exemption and reapply each year for that. Only if the car has had substantial modifications does the car need to be tested (as far as I understand) reading the gov.uk website gives much information and...

Nodge, you are correct...the rear brakes, although out of balance did not affect normal braking and I also did a few 'hard braking' tests on the quiet roads where I live (on the way to the test centre). Think rear brakes have been tested for imbalance since 2013 although I may be wrong. These...

Of course, if your are stopped and challenged regards your lack of MOT you could always counter the police officer by demanding to see his MOT for his(Oops, maybe her/should be 'their') MOT certificate......

What have you done to your Freelander today

That has always been the case regards 'Cops being able to slap you with a fine' I take your article quote is not from a gov.uk website nor a legally savvy advisor more from a journalist looking for a slightly sensationalist angle to get his view point across. MOT rules are regularly reviewed but...

What have you done to your Freelander today

https://www.gov.uk/getting-an-mot/retests It's very clear and very simple....read the above. You MUST have a pre arranged MOT appointment and as mentioned drive the shortest or most reasonable route to or from the testing centre. If you car fails a test but has a valid certificate from a...

Then there would be many MOT centres clogged up with useless cars. And it would be a 'no brainer' to set up a recovery business to move such cars about and become an instantly successful business guru for doing so. I believe the orevious ruling remains extant. And will continue as before.

The law still allows you to make your way to an MOT test centre via the shortest and most reasonable route and back again or to your garage for repairs though.

Had never considered a 3D printer but then, when I was a 'sad sack' and watched 'Wheeler Dealers' Ed China used one to make some inserts/light mounts to fit in the original lanterns on a vintage car so that he could run better lighting for the London to Brighton Rally. Thinking if you get it...
